I am considering buying the OLYMPUS Stylus 550WP Blue 10.0 MP 2.5" LCD 3X Optical Zoom Waterproof Digital Camera with the open box policy from newegg. Would this be a mistake? Would the camera somehow not be waterproof?? It would be a savings of $40 if I bought it the open box way. Is it worth the risk?

Newegg is a highly rated site with very high levels of customer satisfaction.
Buying open box is always a risk because that means that someone has been in that box. Was the camera removed? Did someone shoot photos with it? Does it carry the full maker's warranty? Did some one handle or mishandle the camera? All these are valid questions.
With newegg's high ratings however, you'll probably be safe. However I still believe you'd be better off not saving the $40 and buy new.
These kinds of deals can be so tempting but... who really knows besides newegg - I don't and I don't think you do either.

I have narrowed down my choices to a couple of cameras but they're different versions. Here are my choices:
Canon-Powershot 8.0 MP Digital ELPH Camera- Blue/Brown/Silver/Gold/Pink (SD1100IS)
Kodak- EasyShare 10.2 MP Digital Camera - Pink (V1003)
Sony Cybershot 8.1 MP Digital Camera - Black (DSC-T70/B)

It's a very cool camera, and it is an extremely tough little camera, which your parents should consider. It's a little more expensive than your choices, but the SW 860 is:
Drop proof from 5 feet.
Waterproof to 10 feet underwater
Freeze proof and crush proof.
No extendable lens to bang and break.
In the long run, this camera will last a lot longer than the others, which are fragile in comparison.
Cool features:
When shooting a multiple picture panorama, this camera can put it together by itself. No need to load it onto your computer along with some software. You can take it swimming with no worries.
Why do I recommend this camera? Take a look through Yahoo Answers. There are lots of people asking how can they fix their broken cameras that have been dropped, gotten wet and so on.
Since you are about to become a teenager, you are probably more active than the average person, and that will naturally be a little rough on a camera.
