is Sony Ericsson T300 camera waterproof?

Q. I have T300 and it says something about underwater but I can't be sure:S

Answer
The only hits that I'm getting on the Sony Ericsson T300 is a cameraless phone.
Though there is a seperate camera available for it (the CommuniCam), it's a simple "snap-it-on-and-snap-it" thing and is certainly not waterproof.

Have you got the model number correct?

Edit ********************************************

You mean a Sony Cyber-shot T300.

No, it's not waterproof.
The Underwater mode is used when you have the camera in the optional Marine Pack...
http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10151&catalogId=10551&langId=-1&productId=8198552921665360007

Edit *********************************

This waterproof bag would also protect your Cyber-shot, down to 30', and give you a chance to use that underwater mode....

how can I take my camera under water?

actress/da

I have regular digital sony cybershot camera. I need to use it to take some underwater photos. Is there like a case I can make or something so that i can take it under water?

Answer
You may be able to find an underwater housing for the camera or make one with plexiglass. Just remember to make the seams tight and use a good waterproof caulking agent.

What is the best waterproof camera?

I want a camera that can take high quality photos but is waterproof. I'm not planning to go scuba diving with it but i do want to take photos at the beach/in the pool.
I don't care about price i just want the best.
also i would like personal experience with the camera if possible - i no go pro has heaps of ads but their cameras are like 5mp...

Answer
Check out for Canon PowerShot D20 12.1 MP CMOS Waterproof Digital Camera
* Overall image quality is good. Considering the conditions in which you can shoot with this (wet, cold, hot, dusty, etc.), I'd rate image quality as very good.
* Low-light performance. Most of the underwater pictures I've shot were in the pool in the evening with no direct sunlight. Given the lighting conditions, the images far exceed a typical point-and-shoot. Considering they were shot underwater (taking away quite a bit more light), the increased challenges of automatic focusing, etc. and I'd rate the image quality fantastic.

Id like to be able to take pictures underwater at the beach,so what is a waterproof camera case i can use thats under $100,and i can buy at a store?

http://www.livingroom.org.au/photolog/canon-powershot-sd600-ixus-60JPG.JPG

thats my camera

Answer
The only fitted case I can find is the Canon WP-DC4 Waterproof Housing for Powershot SD600 Digital Camera. It sells for about $169.

If you can get by with just a waterproof shooting bag, try the aquapac mini point and shoot case, about $35.00
http://www.aquapac.net

Oh yeah, they sell it at REI stores. Should have mentioned that earlier.

Can i vacuum seal a flip video camera to waterproof it? ?

Avery

It's the first generation I believe since there isn't HD video. No optical zoom. Am I being stupid for even considering this? Would the bag destroy the camera? I would use it for going down waterslides and light underwater filming. no more than 4 feet tops. Would the bag mess up the lens? Could I use an xacto knife and cut a hole for the lens? Its all plastic. Thanks:)

Answer
The bag cant harm the camera in any way. It sounds risky, but it could work. Just put some paper towels or toilet paper in the bag, vacuum seal it, then submerge the bag in water. When you pull it back out and open it, check to see if the material inside is wet. If not, then go for it! But if you do mess up your camera, Im not the blame. Lol.

How do I make my camera water resistant using a plastic bag?

S

I want to take pictures during a light rain. I have a Sony NEX-5R. I have searched the internet, but I can only find pre-made bags for sale or instructions on waterproof boxes.
I just want to make sure what materials to use and the most important parts of the camera to keep covered/uncovered.

Answer
I use a product called Rain Sleeve when shooting in the rain of where mud can get on my camera

They cost about $6 and come in a pack of two

The Best Brand For Waterproof Digital Cameras?

Chris

I would like a camera that can sustain weather-related obstacles like rain, snow, etc. I want a camera that is 10 Mega Pixels or higher, can capture video, and is between the range of $100 - $250. (Image Stabilization is a plus)

I would like to know what brand can supply me with a camera equal to the features i want or a camera alone that any of you may recommend.

Thank You For All Of Your Answer(s)

Answer
Dpreview recently tested waterproof cameras

The Canon D10 came out on top, but it is over your budget.
Pentax W60 was second, and within budget, but it lacks image stabilization.

Waterproof camera cases for canon digital slr?

Nicole

What cases should you use for filming in/around water?

Answer
Waterproof cases for just your camera body cost more than $1,500 - then you'll need one to go over-top of your lens. For recording video, you should use an actual camcorder/video camera.

Good cameras/cases to go scuba diving with?

Vampire_Mo

Digital, portable, and should be able to go about 60 feet (that's the depth I'm certified for, so 70 feet would be even better). And cases for the camera if there aren't any affordable deep cameras? Thanks :)
And not more than $500 :P

Answer
Decent waterproof shells/lens ports tend to be particular to the camera. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ns=p_OVER_ALL_RATE|1&ci=16477&N=4185679681&srtclk=sort

ADDT'L: When I looked into a bulkhead(housing)/lens port for my DSLR, The total came to around $6,500 including a basic light system. So, for now, it is on my wish list.

Waterproof Digital Camera????

Going to buy one, just for playing in the pool with my daughter, nothing crazy like scuba diving or anything like that. I am look at the Olympus Stylus 850. Any advice?

Answer
Hi I bought the Olympus Stylus 850, I think is a good camera for what you want it for, It takes really good pictures, good close-ups also, I ended up returning it and I exchanged it for a Sony Cybershot DSC H-10, just because I wasn't too crazy about the video audio on the Olympus, you can barely hear your voice, and it sounds muffled, my guess is because the mic. has to be covered up, so water won't go inside of it. I'm sure you would enjoy that camera, I would of loved to have kept it, but I am more concerned in the videos, so for a fun camera to take to the beach or to a pool, I think is a good choice.

waterproof digital camera?

I got a waterproof case for my camera cannon powershot a1100is. I got a hard case and in the dark it dont seem to take very good pics with the flash is that common. is it better to get a hard or soft case. I dont care much for the protection im pretty careful. Or should i just get a waterproof digital camera instead.

Answer
I recently bought myself a waterproof digi camera - and a few of my friends also have waterproof ones of different brands. It definitely depends on how much you are wanting to spend as to whether it's worth it or not.
I wouldn't reccomend the Fujifilm at all as photo quality is quite poor, you'd be better with a waterproof case just when you need it. The Sony tx5 is what I got, although the tx10 is now out and is even better. If you can afford to buy the Sony one, I certainly recommend it. I'm no photographer, but I've had a lot of people ask what camera my photos were taken on just because they have such lovely colour. The other waterproof one I'd recommend is the Panasonic DMC-TS3. Again, this camera takes great photos both in and out of the water.
The other waterproof ones I've tried I personally wouldn't buy, but in saying that you get what you pay for. They are more affordable.
I have only ever used a camera once with a hard case so can't really say much about them.

Hope that helps a little bit :)

Which digital camera, and accessories for a 11 year old?

Bob

I have an 11 year old daughter that is interested in photography. For the last two summer when she spent her summer vacation with me, she liked taking pictures of the flowers, trees, buildings and anything else with my canon 50D and whatever lens I had on it at the moment.

she thought it was intresting how I took photos of the fireworks using long shutter times on a tripod. and when I would take long exposures of her painting with light at night time.

Yesterday she asked me if I could get her a digital camera. I told her maybee someday, but not right now. ( if I did do it today I would want it to be a suprise to her in the mail)

So, I know that by her asking, it is not just a fad she will grow out of. I beleive she really has an intrest in photography,

I'm thinking of getting her something like a canon SD1180IS and possibly a book on photography

What camera/book/accessories do you think I should get her?

thanks
p.s. my daughter lives about 800 miles away from me, sharing my camera with her is out of the question for this topic.
thanks for the replies so far.

I mistakenly put 1180. I meant the SD780IS

Answer
I think its great your daughter wants to get into photography and you can spend more time with her teaching her how to use her camera.
Maybe take her to a store that has cameras on display and see which ones she likes. Let her play around, you don't have to tell her that you getting her a camera and still keep it a surprise.
You can buy used or I suggest the cameras that are waterproof. Like the Olympus Stylus Tough.
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ns=p_PRICE_2|0&ci=8612&N=4294538180+4294956508

For accessories there isn't much for point and shoot cameras except maybe a small tripod and a camera bag.

For books on photography I definitely recommend Scott Kelby's digital photography book. They are super easy read and offer great advice.

Waterproof camera cases for canon digital slr?

Nicole

What cases should you use for filming in/around water?

Answer
Quality housings from Ikelite will costs $1,500 and up for the camera housing and another $500 or so for the lens housing.

If you add in some equipment for a flash, and some other accessories your underwater housing can easily run well over $3,000.

I have used one of the waterproof bags from Ewa-marine to shoot while white water rafting, but I don't think I would trust it if I was SCUBA diving. For snorkeling it would be fine. It is a lot cheaper than a hard plastic housing, and is only $350.
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/79667-REG/Ewa_Marine_EM_U_AXP_U_AXP_Underwater_Housing.html

Another option would be to just buy a waterproof camera like an Olympus Tough.

OLYMPUS waterproof, shockproof cameras: Good buy or not?

mariajay

To those who owns this kind of camera, please share your reviews...Thanks

Answer
I know Olympus has 2 models for shockproof and waterproof.

1) Stylus 1030. It has very tough body and good picture. Shockproof up 6.6 feet and waterproof up to 33 feet and also freeze proof.

2)Stylus 1050. This one replace the Stylus 1030 and this cost a little bit more. 1050 doesn't have tough looking body but still do the same job. Shockproof only to 5 feet and waterproof up to 10 feet.

Amazon has it for really cheap
Here is the link to the Stylus 1030s

Is the camera 'olympus fe-230' waterproof?

Sophia

It's summer and I want some underwater pictures.. I was going through it and it has some underwater settings and I'm wondering if it is waterproof.. I have another one called 'Casio-Exilim' .. Is it waterproof?
Thanks for the help!

Answer
All the waterproof Olympus cameras have an "SW" or "Tough" in their model number.

Unless the user manual specifically lists either of those cameras as waterproof and tells you how deep you can dive with it, then it is NOT waterproof and you will have to buy or rent a housing for it.

Two such samples

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs/Olympus/oly_stylustough8010.asp

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs/Olympus/oly_stylus1050.asp

As you can see, some SW cameras are only "rainproof"

Underwater Digital Camera help?

I want to get an amazing underwater digital camera, I love photography and don't want to have to worry about the camera getting wet. I also would love it to have as good a zoom and picture quality possible. I really like the Canon Powershot d10, but it is so bulky and I'm scared that if I buy it, a new, better camera will come out. I don't need a new camera until summer 2010, do you know if there will be a new model of an underwater camera coming out?!

Thanks!

Help remembering digital camera name?

JustAnothe

The camera I remember is held vertically. It has 3 models and records in HD. It is also a "rugged" camera, so it can go underwater up to 9 feet on one of the models. It records in 14.1 (or 14.2, can't remember) or 16.1 (or 16.2) depending on the model. I believe te model comes in either blue orange or black. If you could please assist me if anyone knows which camera I am describing. I am positive it is held upright with your hand (looks like an upside down L) when held because the screen flips out.

any ideas or do u know something that would fit my camera??

Answer
You have a few options. The least expensive option would be a simple watertight bag, such as an "Aquapac."

Here's some of them: http://www.aquapac.net/

There's probably similar watertight bags from other companies.

I don't believe there's a custom hard underwater housing for your camera. Petos link is for the wrong camera.

Is this a good Underwater cameras?

_________

Is the Olympus Stylus 550 Waterproof 10MP Digital Camera good?
I was thinking of getting it, and was wondering how good it is. Tell me all you can bout it. Thanks. :)

Answer
The new Olympus Stylus 550-WP camera has the capability to dive ten feet underwater and keep working.

If the idea of an underwater camera gets your juices flowing, the Olympus Stylus 550-WP might be for you. It uses interior rubber gaskets and O-rings to seal the camera so you can go ten feet under water and still capture the watery world below depths. There's even a scene mode for underwater photos, applying the correct lighting filters.

The 4.5-ounce device felt light and portable in a quick test drive. A face detection system worked well for up to three facesâthe camera automatically focuses on the humans in the picture (detected by skin tone).

The camera supports both xD-Picture Card and microSD media, supports image stabilization (especially important under water), and has a few built-in editing functions, such as a red eye fix.

The 10-megapixel sensor, 3Ã optical and 5Ã digital zoom, digital ESP metering options, and AVI JPEG motion support make it a decidedly upper-end pocket camera. There's a black and aqua blue model; the camera will cost about $200 when it ships in February.

Where can I take my waterproof camera to get fixed?

Ellen

I have Pentax Optio ES80 waterproof camera. It got water in the battery pack last summer. I was wondering if there is any places in Philadelphia that can fix my camera.

Answer
generally in the throw away society we live in , unless the warranty terms allow a repair from faulty workmanship etc , this will be the only option, and a replacement.. water damage doesn't destroy the camera it is the corrosion from the calcium and minerals which knock the microchip components into uselessness, generally a repair joint will buy another product faulty and replace parts , but this in most first world countries is considered unreasonable labor for a relatively cheap electronic device .. i apologize most likely there are no services which will allow this to be repaired economically

Thinking of buying a digital camera...need some suggestions...?

abbi

I'm thinking if buying a digital camera...anyone have any good suggestions?

Here are the requirements or preferences:

color: red, light green, light blue, black
price: $200--$450
features: take pictures, screen, flash, video, etc...

Answer
In that price range, you've got a lot of good choices, so it depends on your priorities:
The Pentax Optio W30 is an OK camera, but it's waterproof and dustproof and has a cool time lapse mode. If you want to take your camera with you on exotic vacations, this might be a good idea.
The Fujifilm Finepix F30 has really good low light performance because it has a larger (1/1.7") sensor than most compact digital cameras. It also has good battery life.
The Canon Powershot TX1 has a 10X optical zoom, and will shoot motion video at 1280x720 resolution! Most compact digital cameras just shoot motion video at 640x480.
The Olympus SP-550UZ has an 18X optical zoom, will go up to ISO 5000 (at reduced resolution) for extreme low light photography, and has a bulb mode that will take a picture up to eight minutes long! You could start doing astrophotography with one other these!

If you'd like a more specific answer, decide what your priorities are (what types of pictures or vidoes you'll be taking) and we'll narrow it down your you.

Is the camera Cyber-shot® Digital Camera W330 by sony good and waterproof?

ikimi

Answer
I have this camera and it is an EXCELLENT camera for the price and for a quick point and shoot type camera. It of course is not waterproof, but I have never had any problems with it in the rain or anything. The only time I have had a problem was at Disneyland. It was in my pocket when I was on the splash mountain ride and my pants got soaked. It acted funky for a day but I never even turned it off and let it dry. After it completely dried out I have not had a problem since. I would highly recommend this camera!

Best waterproof camera that is under $300?

I am going our of the country and my camera died! I need a new one and I would like it to be waterproof. I work with a wildlife center and we do necropsy's on turtles and marine mammals. It needs to be able to be thrown in the sand and guts and be and washed off without worry. Also, I am snorkeling when I go out of the country. What camera would be the best. I have looked at the Olympus tough TG-820, Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS4, and the cannon D20. Which one is the best or do you have another recommendation.

Here's a side-by-side comparison:

should i buy a waterproof digital camera?

ram05

ive recently looked online for a waterproof camera around $100 to take on a camping trip. all of the reviews i have seen have either been really awesome or say that the camera broke right away under the water (even on the same cameras). i really would like to buy one but now i dont know if i should just give up and get a disposable waterproof camera or keep looking for the digital ones. i dont want to spend the money on something that will just break right away. my friend had one that worked great- its just all of the reviews saying aweful stuff scares me away a bit. hmmm.... what to do????

Answer
Research a ton of reviews on different models and buy a waterproof case. Or buy the gopro camera

Whats a good but cheap digital camera?

I'd like a good quality digital camera but it must be under $100. I'm only fifteen, dont got a job. My mom got laid off, and my dad works in a supermarket. We can barely pay for rent but i really want a camera. I've wanted one since last year but was too afraid to ask. I still haven't asked yet because i've already bought back-to-school clothes that costed about $100. I just want to be prepared to know which ones are good and which ones suck. thanks!

Would appreciate thoughts on the Fuji Finepix HS20 EXR?

FatherRyan

Am a Kayaker and need a camera capable of taking High quality pics while kayaking in the lakes of South Island New Zealand. I realise that it is not an SLR, however it is smaller, less bulky and far more practical to carry in the Day hatch of a kayak for on water use, also the one lens suits all is attractive. Anybody with experience with this camera, or its HS10 predecessor I would appreciate your thoughts

Answer
You're not going to get real high quality images with this camera. That's because it has a very small image sensor (1/2"). This link shows you image sensor sizes...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Sensor_sizes_overlaid_inside_-_updated.svg

The larger the sensor, the better. You can see that the HS20 has a minutely smaller sensor than the smallest one shown. So, it will perform best using a low ISO, which is just fine for outdoor, daylight use. Mid to high ISO images are fairly poor, showing high amounts of noise. It IS capable of shooting in RAW, however with such as small sensor, I doubt they'd be high quality.

I don't know about you, but I would be a little nervous taking a camera out on a kayak if it wasn't waterproof or protected by a waterproof housing. So, have you thought about a waterproof camera? You might not get ultra high quality images, but at least you'd have some peace of mind. Look at the Panasonic TS3 or Sony TS10...
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/Q311waterproofcompactgrouptest/page12.asp

If you're still determined to get the HS20 EXR...just don't get it wet. I don't see a real problem with AA batteries...you can buy non rechargeable lithium e.g. Energizer Ultimate for long battery life.

Canon powershot D10 or Olympus stylus tough?

Boo

I want clear pictures, good video, and GREAT PICS AT NIGHT AND NON BLURRY PICTURES..

lol clearly the most important thing to me is that it isn't blurry and can take pics at night. the bulkiness of canon isn't ideal, but idc it's underwater... that's the best part. well yeah which do you recommend and why?

thanks!

Answer
You can consider buying Canon PowerShot D10 12.1 MP Waterproof Digital Camera with 3x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.5-inch LCD
Some great features:
- Good looking waterproof camera, "cuteness" is very important, I disliked those clear cases that you have to screw on your camera and as one reviewer reported they can still get fogged up
- Rainproof/Waterproof up to 33 ft, good for most pools or waterparks
- Freeze proof lens up to 14 deg F
- SMART Auto mode that detects the right scene mode for each shot (works great)
- Digic 4 processor, auto shots are nicer than some older Canon cameras, optical image stabilization and motion detection to prevent blurring of images
- 2.5 inch extra bright LCD that's covered by a protective surface to prevent scratches and looks good in bright sun
- 3X optical and 12X digital zoom
- Face detection
- "Blink" detection - the camera gives a blink warning if someone's eyes are closed in the picture
- Contrast correction - Can be set while taking picture or even afterward to correct darker areas
- Continuous shooting lets you capture the perfect water shot
- Scene modes - The auto mode does a good job of sensing the conditions but if you want to set a mode you get the choice of - Night exposure, Panorama (stitch together shots in one), programmable mode, portrait, sunset, beach, fireworks, aquarium, underwater, snow, indoor, kids and pets, foliage, long shutter, color accent (keep only one color in a pic, so the water and jeans will be blue while the people black and white) and color swap (change one color to another, swap the color of your boat from beige to red).

Negatives:
- Slightly bulkier than your typical Canon SD, it's built for water, beach and rugged use, and it's rounder shape with no hard edges can take a fall or two
- No threads for filters
- No RAW mode
- No lens cap but the glass shield is scratchproof

What is better: Underwater camera or an underwater camera case?

Nick from

My Situation: I'm going to a family reunion in Hawaii in a couple of weeks, and was thinking taking pictures while snorkeling may be fun. I could buy one of those $10 disposable underwater film cameras, but since I go into caves a lot which are wet, I thought getting something not disposable could be useful there also. I don't want to spend too much money, but am exploring my options.

What I've tried so far: I went to REI the other day, and bought a $30 heavy duty underwater plastic baggie with a hard lens opening that goes over the camera lens part. I tried it out with the digital camera I already have and noticed the pictures are okay if I don't use the flash, but once I use the flash the pictures come out very cloudy. That was the AquaPac brand, and I'm not sure if the DiCaPac brand name underwater baggie would be any better or not. As an alternative, I'm not sure if those "hard case" underwater housings take care of this "flash problem", although with how much they cost for my particular snapshot camera model, it may be cheaper just to buy a real underwater camera. I'd also be worried that a hard case housing wouldn't be useful if I decide to upgrade cameras later on, since they're specific to the camera model?

So, moving the story forward, at Costco there's an underwater camera usually $300, but I just bought it on sale for $150, trying to figure out if I should open it or return it. It's a Nikon Coolpix AW100. It's waterproof to 33 ft, drop proof to 5 ft, and has "underwater mode" (although the camera I already have has an "aquarium mode", not sure if that would help or not).

My Question: I'm not sure if it would be best to go with the Nikon AW100, or get a better underwater heavy duty baggie case with the hard lens to go with my existing digital camera (so that I can always upgrade my digital camera later on), or some other option?

IT'S NOT NEEDED TO READ BELOW UNLESS MORE DETAILS ARE NEEDED:

The underwater camera I found at Costco is http://www.amazon.com/Nikon-COOLPIX-Waterproof-Digital-Camouflage/dp/B008JI0R8U/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1365876725&sr=1-4&keywords=Nikon+AW100

If I do get some underwater housing, the digital camera I have now is a Canon Powershot A720 IS that I got in 2007 http://www.amazon.com/Canon-PowerShot-A720IS-Digital-Stabilized/dp/B000V1VG2E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1365875483&sr=8-1&keywords=Canon+Powershot+A720+IS

The type of underwater housing which gave me foggy pictures when using the flash was http://www.amazon.com/Aquapac-Small-Camera-Case-Shown/dp/B0012BRAFY/ref=sr_1_24?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1365875732&sr=1-24&keywords=aquapac+underwater+case

The housing which I haven't tried but don't know if it would be better is http://www.amazon.com/Dicapac-WP-ONE-Digital-Camera-Waterproof/dp/B005IAXVMG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1365875559&sr=8-1&keywords=dicapac+waterproof+case

Answer
I am a scuba diver & underwater photographer.

The reason you get 'foggy' pictures when using the flash underwater is that you get 'backscatter' from on axis flash off particles in the water.

The ONLY way round this is to use an off camera strobe - these can be attached to DSLR underwater housings, or you can get versions that attached to hard cases for compact cameras. The hard cases are usually waterproof down to recreational diving depths (ie at lease 40m, usually 60m). This may well be overkill for what you want to do.

There are rigid underwater housings available for your camera;
http://www.digifish.nl/en/equipment/housings.html?model=Canon+PowerShot+A720+IS

You should be able to attach an external strobe but these are not cheap - you are talking a few hundred pounds!!

Using a flexible 'baggie' is ok, but as you have found in low light (& light levels drop off fast underwater) you are going to need some additional lighting. The Dicapac wouldn't be any better in this respect to what you have already tried. The Costco camera would also suffer from this problem too as it has an inbuilt flash.

The other alternative is to get really close to the subject - reduce the thickness of the water column - this will reduce backscatter.

Just realise that if you thought photography was an expensive hobby, underwater photography is much worse!!

Is it possible to build an underwater housing for a Canon PowerShot A520?

mystina777

I would like to be able to take photographs at a depth no greater than 60 feet. If you could direct me to some plans or a book about the subject please do. If there is an underwater housing for this camera how much does it cost?

Answer
Yup, they sell the waterproof casing for this (40m I thnk)
Cost S$370 which probably works out to <US$200
Model is Waterproof Case WP-DC60 (A510 / A520)

Should I get a waterproof camera?

Q. I am stuck on what to get.
I want a camera that takes good quality photos.
I live right next t the beach, g to the pool a lot and am wondering if I should get a waterproof camera.
Should I get one?
Thanks soooo much in advance!

Answer
if you are fond of taking your pictures and hobbies include the beach and pool a waterproof camera is great! although there are concerns about cameras leaking you can get cameras which have an extra lens screen which will minimize the chance of water getting in and now-a-days battery covers will have a rubber seal so a tiny hair or fibre shouldn't create a leakage. the higher the depth of water resistance the less likely it is for water to get in, the advised depth is 5m because it is rather hard to swim this deep but it ensures this camera would have good protection against water and pressure. its there in your hand for any picture. pictures can speak really well to describe yourself which hobbies fall into so enjoying aquatic activities would be even better with a waterproof camera. just imagine those stunning shots you could get from in the pool of your and your friends! especially with sunlight beams pouring into the pool and through onto the pool floor! having a waterproof camera will put no limits to the pictures you can take. good quality pictures can be taken from a camera as simple as an 8MP which is why there a wide range of possibilities to choose from. if your looking for one that you want to use out of water aswell there are quite a few you could get the best one advised to me was the sony TX10, i got this for christmas and could not be happier it has a 16.2MP and a 4X optical zoom. it is water resistant guaranteed up to 5m and also shockproof to 1.5 m it has a sweep power mode and captures stunning moments with a fast shutter! this one is a little pricey though at around £250 so if you still want great quality but at a lower price i would go for the samsung wp10 this is 12.2 megapixel which is still great and has an internal 5x zoom. it is a compact camera and comes in a wide range of colours including: light turquoise, red, yellow and black unfortunately it is only up to 3 meters water resistant and does not have any shock proof abilities. this one comes in on the market at around £125
hope this helps a bit! :)

Pentax Optio W60 vs. Olympus Stylus waterproof cameras?

Chicken

I know there was already a question on this, but it still left me wondering. I have read some reviews online already, and I just want to find out more.
For me, the Pentax gets my attention because it uses SD memory cards, and I already own a 1 GB card. The video quality is exceptional as well, and I also like the appearance of it more than the olympus.

The thing that gets my attention with the olympus cameras are their durability. I like how they are shockproof and some are crushproof. I do not like how they look as much and I do not prefer xD picture cards.

I have some questions?
- What are your opinions on these cameras?
- Which has a sharper image quality?
- What type of batteries do they use?
- and Are the pentax cameras somewhat durable? It says they are "rugged compacts".

Thanks. It's okay if you cannot answer all of the questions. I just want your opinions!
fhotoace-
I wasn't really sure which olympus model to compare it to. I was thinking either the Stylus 850 SW or Stylus 1050 SW.
Thanks again for answering!

Answer
- What are your opinions on these cameras?
I don't like Olympus because of: xD memory cards, lenses position, sensitivity to dynamic pressure (I saw 2 flooded 1030SW this year) and because it is capable of recording only 10 seconds of video in 640x480,30 fps mode

- Which has a sharper image quality?
W60 has better and sharper image quality (http://public.fotki.com/Primoz/1030swvsw60/ - pictures are from steves-digicams internet page)

- What type of batteries do they use?
They both uses dedicated Li-Ion accus

- and Are the pentax cameras somewhat durable? It says they are "rugged compacts".
Pentax is durable enough for me: it survived 1 week in desert, 3 weeks of snorkelling without fresh water and 12 meters deep in Red Sea, but Olympus is capable to survive fall from height of 1,5 meters and you can step on it even if you weight 100 kg
