What is the best digital camera under £100 I should get?

=D

I would like to get a waterproof camera that takes the picture quickly after pressing the button (Don't know what that feature is called)
Most importantly I'd like it to be under £100
Thank you for your help :)

Answer
Unfortunately you're asking too much for the money. Waterproof and little or no shutter lag just isn't feasible for £100.

You can get an Aquapac for £25 which will enable you to submerge your camera. I've never used one but looking at the website will give you some more info: http://store.aquapac.net/explore-product-range/waterproof-camera-cases/small-camera-case-418.html

That just leaves the camera. In the sub-£100 bracket have a look at the Panasonic Lumix FS18, Fujifilm T200 and Nikon Coolpix S3100.

Just don't expect miracles :)

Also keep in mind that for a bit more money (£115-£125) you can get the Fuji XP30 and Olympus Tough TG-310, both of which can be used underwater without any bag or accessory.

What type of camera should I get?

I'm 16 and I need a digital camera, I don't think I want to spend more than $300. I like the touch screen ones but I want a good quality camera as well. I was thinking a 12 mega pixel. Any recommendations?

Answer
First of all, the number of mega pixels is the LAST thing you should be concerned about. If you are looking for cameras in this price range you are most likely going to be getting an advanced point and shoot (P&S) type camera and these models usually use relatively small image sensors. That means that, to get a high MP count they have to use smaller pixels which causes the maker to make compromises in other image qualities. See this link if you want more information ~

http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/mpmyth.htm

The main advantage of high MP counts is they allow you to make larger prints from you photos. Generally 4x6 inch is the standard photo size, so unless you are planning to make many prints of photos larger than standard page size (8.5 x 11 inches) you don't need more than 6-10 MP. Also, remember that the higher the MP count the smaller the number of pictures you can store on a memory card.

What you really need to do is ask yourself "What will I use the camera for?"

- If you want to have something that is easy to carry around look at compact models.
- If you want to be able to take pictures at events and parties you probably want one with good flash and/or high ISO capabilities (where lower MP are usually better). And face or smile detection might be important!
- If you want to do videos you want one with good sound recording capability. Again lower MP often means you can shoot longer clips before you have to stop.
- If you do a lot of sports or vigorous outdoor activities you might look at rugged waterproof models.

Consider these factors and then determine which ones are most important to you then find models that have as many of the features you want and are in your price range.

Good brands to look for with P&S models are, in alphabetical order -

Canon, Fuji, Kodak, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic and Sony

I have been impressed with models from Sony, Canon and Olympus.

Here is a link to a comparison chart for a range of models (note there are multiple pages) they do not provide a way to eliminate models by $$$ so look at the price first and you can remove cameras that exceed your price range.

Kyle Maass

I am looking to purchase a camera (probably not a housing for an SLR) for scuba diving. Something not to expensive, probably less than 500. Would the GoPro Hero be a suitable choice, or the SeaLife DC1200?

Answer
There are some nice P&S cameras that can be used down to 10 meters.

Most of the underwater cameras specs will tell you how deep you can dive without damaging the camera

Many are only good to 3 meters, so you will have to spend some time researching

P&S cameras -- http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/sidebyside.asp Olympus SW and Tough camera series as well as one Canon and a few Pentax cameras may fit your needs

GoPro Hero Surf can be used underwater up to 60 meters.

Shooting video, as you know, you will have to supply supplemental light since very little red light penetrates beyond a meter.

What is the best waterproof digital camera currently on the market?

How's My H

I'm a little skeptical on what I should get. Whenever I plan on buying a digital camera all I look for is reviews reviews reviews.

Any suggestions on what I should get? I was thinking on the Olympus Stylus 1030SW, it seems to have nice quality to the pictures and seems durable, but then again I'm skeptical.

Btw I'm going to be using this camera for underwater picture taking only, I already have an SLR and a normal point and shoot for regular shots.

Thanks :]

Answer
Ah, best P&S underwater camera ... yes the Olympus is one of the better P&S underwater camera.

Scientists use underwater housing that can cost nearly double the cost of the camera inside ... usually a nice $2,000 to $10,000 camera.

Q. its my first camping trip ever with friends in a lake...
what should i bring for entertainment.....
food???
how about clothes?? how many? what it is?
should i ask my friends what they bring so it won't be the same?
camping gear??? i have no idea on this.....
what the most important one to bring anyway..... what's in your list if you were to go??............

Answer
Memorial Weekend... This is when kids go wild. What type of lake are you going to? Aree you camping at an estblished campground or are you "roughing it"?

Let's try to bring you and your pals back in one piece with hopefully a smile and a story.

Clothes: Avoid cotton! Cotton absorbs water easier and will stay wet longet hence, if you get wet you'll cool down a lot faster and stay miserable. Only 100% synthetics and/or wool.

There's a lake, there's a beach there's water fun! Bring Shorts and a Shirt instead of swimming gear. Shorts are far more sturdy when it comes to sitting on rocks and less likely for you to have a "wardrobe malfunction."

So each day you are going to the lake you'll prolly get wet - you need new swimgear each day UNLESS you are able to properly wash/dry your stuff. Oh! Buy some WADERS from say Walmart or something... These are slip on water shoes that have a good sole to them so you won't get your toes hooked on someone's lost fishing line or some dope's broken beer bottle.

For wandering around the forest wear pants - unless you WANT poisen ivy and/or shrub scratches all over your legs. Wear layered clothing just in case the weather changes - undershirt, short sleeve and a light jacket. Wear synthetic or wool socks. Carry and extra pair just in case you get them wet - sucks to walk back with wet feet. =P

Do not wear tennishoes - they have no ankle support. Get some good hiking shoes - Big 5 always seems to have a sale on these. Carry a pair of working gloves just in case.

Make sure your pants/shorts have plenty of pockets which either have zippers OR bottons. You need some where's to put the following survival gear. Make sure you waterproof the following using ziplock baggies:

one bag (for making fires):
Book of matches, a bic lighter, a magnifying glass (small is fine as long as it is thick) and some of the lint from your mother's dryer.

one bag (for finding your way): Small LED flashlight, a compass, about 10 10" lengths of pink/red/yellow ribbons and 1 very small pocket knife.

one bag (for owees): 10 bandages small & large, liquid skin (you can get that from any pharmacy), a few sample packages of tylenol/aspirin/sudafed, metal tweezers, burt's bees rescue cream (little tin the size of a quarter)

one bag (for boredom): Deck of playing cards, chewing gum, an inflatable ball, a tiny pocket digital camera (key chain cam cost about $10 to $40), and a tiny laser pointer.

one bag (potty time): Bundles of toilet paper seperately rolled so that you don't need to pull out the whole thing for what you need, small 1 oz bottle of purell or other type of waterless hand sanitizer.

one bag (who you are): Your ID, your special medication AND an emergency card stating what you are allergic to, what meds you are taking and who should they contact in case of an emergency. Add some money to this too.

If you squeeze the air out of each of these baggies and you have plenty of pockets, there will be no prob.

This is minimal survival gear and can get you out of MOST trouble you will find yourself in.

Remember, you bring for you! Do not depend upon what other's bring. They may forget. Then you are SOL.

What are some things you need for a roadtrip?

Jenny [[VI

Some friends and I are thinking about a road trip during Spring Break, maybe Northern California [I live in Southern California]...and we have some ideas but we're not too sure.

Anything about a road trip will help! Renting car, food, destination, renting a room, etc.

Thanks! =)

Answer
Tips:
Don't eat at chain restaurants. Local restaurants are much better 95% of the time and much more fun 100% of the time.

Go easy on the map quest. Getting lost is part of the fun and will contribute to the memories made and stories to tell.

Keep an open mind.

Cell phones are to fun as sponges are to spills. Each member of the trip should hold another person's phone to ensure adherence to the rule. Only take them out if you are to make prank calls.

Get a AAA card! These guys can set you up with free maps, roadside assistance, and even directions to your final destination!

While not knowing where you'll end up is part of the fun, be sure you at least have a general idea of how you'll get back home, or you could be in trouble.

Digital is the way to go when taking travel photos. Just make sure you have plenty of fully-charged batteries and adequate storage capacity. If memory cards get full they can be downloaded to CD's at the photo departments at big box stores and pharmacies anywhere. Or, if staying with family or friends, just use their computers to backup to disc.

Dumpster dive! many places throw away good food constantly! supermarkets throw away everything, cafes throw away pastries and bagels and whats better than a dough nut log?

If possible hire a caravan it will be easier to store food, sleep and maybe watch some movies

Warnings:
Don't drive so far that you can't afford to get back.
Wear your seatbelt, or you could get in trouble!
Don't rat out your friends for embarrassing things they did upon your return.
Try not to get arrested. (Kindof like the cell phone analogy.)
Being in such close proximity for so long with certain friends can lead to the friendship ending, which can be especially awkward when you still have to drive 1000 miles back home with the guy.
Music can cause some dissension amongst the ranks if the tastes are vastly different. Just try to be accomodating and, if all else fails (assuming the car is yours), play the "It's my car and it's my CD player" card.

Things You'll Need:
Camera, film, batteries
Comfortable clothes
Cooler
Foodstuffs
Music (seriously)
Sunglasses
Notebook - write down funny things down so you don't forget
Gallon of water
Gallon of oil (for your car)
50-100 feet of rope
Duct tape
First aid kit
Flashlight (one that cranks or shakes to provide power, preferably)
Bug spray
Jumper cables
Pocket knife
Compass
Umbrella
Blanket(s)
Maps (up to date and waterproof if possible)
Sunscreen
Toiletries
Slip on shoes for when you're only out of the car for a quick stop

Good luck.. theres more stuff on the site down thurrr!

i wanna make a video under water in the pool. any ways to make a good waterproof camera cast with house hold items?

Answer
water and electronics don't mix. the slightest amount of moisture in your camera could destroy it. underwater camera cases is the job for professional gear. If you insist on home made, test it out first with a dummy camera.

you can make a camera splash resistant or rain resistant by putting it in a gallon plasic food storage bag. this does not work for underwater submersion though.

What is a good waterproof digital camera for SCUBA diving?

Sunnyboy

I'm looking for a compact digital camera which I can use both in and out of the water. Most of the good waterproof cameras which I have found are only rated to 10 meters, which is insufficient. Am I better off buying a regular camera and a waterproof case? I have seen some of these offered by Canon.

Answer
You're best off to do a little research on the camera you really want and then see if there's a decent underwater housing for it. Personally, I'd steer clear of the actual camera manufacturer's housings. They tend not to allow use of all the camera functions and they are usually only just good enough that they can claim a depth rating of 130ft max. You're better off protecting that camera investment by purchasing a decent housing like an IkeLite ( if it's available for your camera). They're rated to 200 feet and each is factory tested to pass that. I own a Canon A720IS, that canon does make the housing for, but it was so cheaply made that I opted for the IkeLite housing instead. That housing cost TWICE as much as the actual camera. But I know the camera is safe and that model does everything I want in a camera, both above and below.
As for amphibs ( cameras that are in their own housing such as Sea&Sea, or Bonica) I'd advise against unless you don't mind lugging a large housing around on the surface or what your photos will actually look like. Amphibs are a compromise solution. They don't take great above water shots and they don't take great underwater shots. They do both only "ok" as opposed to a higher end camera that you put in a higher end housing.
When you're looking for a camera, keep a few things in mind.
What's it's power consumption like? Changing batteries is impossible on a dive.
What's it's storage format and capacity? You can't swap out cards on a dive.
How easy is it to point and shoot? You're looking through a housing with a mask on your face, can you see what you're aiming at?
You may be wearing gloves when diving. Can you manipulate those function buttons on the housing easily?
What are the options for adding things like strobes, lens or video lights later? What about the actual camera modes? You may find yourself doing macro or wide angle pics. Maybe at night? Maybe in low vis....that onboard flash can then be your worst enemy since you may not have an option to disable it and all you'll get is backscatter.
My advice... choose ten cameras that do what it is that you intend on doing. Find out if a dedicated manufacturer of dive camera housings makes a housing for those cameras. Then choose from between the ones that do.

Please wear what is comfortable for you.

°A bathing suit under your tank top, shorts is fine. You can remove the tank top and/ or shorts if you are comfortable with it.
°If you have aqua shoes, please wear it. It will protect your feet from the stones and will give you a better footing (grip on the slippery walkway).
°Waterproof camera (the disposable ones work fine).
°A towel, comb, fresh change of clothes.
°Money for tips; the boatmen earn via tips.

Happy travels.

I am looking for a good shockproof, waterproof, dust proof digital camera and don't know which is best?

Matt W

I have looked at the Panasonic TS2, Sony TX5, and Olympus Stylus Rough 8010. Which one is the better of the three? Is there any other camera that I should look into?

Answer
Hello,
All three of them are considered to be good cameras. It all depends on what exactly you expect or want from it.
Sony TX5 is waterproof to 10 ft, when Panasonic TS2 and Olympus Rough 8010 are both waterproof to 33ft. And Sony TX5 has got the lowest resolution from these three. It's just 10.2 megapixels. Panasonic and Olympus have a resolution of 14MP, which is quite a great difference.
All cameras are shock-, dust-, sand- and freeze-proof. But Olympus 8010 is also a crushproof and designed to withstand a weight up to 220 pounds.
Sony TX5 gives you the opportunity to capture panoramic pictures with it's Sweep Panorama feature. Your images are automatically stitched together, which gives you the extra-wide view of the scenery.
Olympus 8010 has got the panoramic shooting option too. It also comes with a built-in 2GB memory, which is more than most cameras available on the market.
Panasonic TS2 has a good quality video recording. Although all these cameras record video in HD format. But Panasonic TS2 seems to be the most expensive out of them.
But if you do not need waterproof camera right now, Sony are releasing a new Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX10 in March/April 2011. It will have a resolution of impressing 16.2 megapixels. And it is going to be the first waterproof camera that can capture 3D still images.

I want to take good quality video of action events - mounts on cars, helmets etc. so that i can sell it to people, also i want the same camera to be able to link to an instant photo printer.

What video camera could do this? I am from South Africa and my budget is +-R10,000 or $1,200 or less. If there is nothing at this range then what is the next most inexpensive one and at how much?

One more thing, it must be able to link up to a computer and store footage/pictures directly on the computer.
Thank you for that reply Vwbe, but I have looked at Drift and Go Pro but this is not good enough quality from the videos i saw when the videos are compared and shown at the same time on YouTube when viewed on even 720HD. It is not smooth enough for my purposes, as there is still a bit of jerkiness that makes it look home "videoey".

Good video camera for outdoorsy person?

Megan P

I'm really looking for a good video camera that can handle the outdoors. Waterproof is a must. Also, optical zoom is a must. And, it must be able to fit into a coat pocket. I don't want to lug around a big camera. I'm hiking, so weight is an issue too.

The one camera that has caught my attention is the Nikon AW100. Has some nice features, but hasn't gotten the best reviews. However, most of that was geared towards interface or for the pictures, not video. I wouldn't mind a point n shoot with video capabilities, but I would use the video function more than the picture stuff. I use a DSLR for my pictures.

Anyway, just weighing my options here. Anybody know of any video cameras that would be good to fit here?

I wouldn't like anything more expensive than the AW100. That is as high as I'll go. I'm not even sure if the AW100 is worth its price tag.

Answer
The Panasonic TS3 is cheaper than the AW100. It's TIPA's best rugged camera for 2011. And the HD video is the best compared to all other waterproof cameras in the market now.

Used to be as expensive as the AW100. But it's around $270 now

What all do we need to bring on our 2-3 day camping adventure?

top waterproof pocket cameras image

My friend and I want to go camping up north in Michigan by taking out my two quads and just driving around and setting up camp anywhere right off the DNR trails. What kind of food should we bring so it will still be good after two or three days? Also what other supplies might we need to take? Thanks for the help!
Also without breaking the bank, were college kids and don't have tons to spend.

Answer
Its always a fantastic adventure to explore the great outdoors. Since you're taking quads you can take any foods you want in an ice chest and be ok. Just be sure to safeguard it from the critters.

As for cooking its a matter of personal preferences. If you cook over a fire it takes longer before you're ready to eat as you will have to let the fire burn down and get some good coals going for your grill. You can literally cook anything over a fire. Just like you use a barbeque grill at home. You can also put pots on the grill and cook just like you would your stove at home. So if you're wanting to save some money in the beginning, you really don't have to invest in a stove and stove equipment at this time.
You'll be much warmer and drier in a sleeping bag with a sleeping pad underneath you than blankets on an air mattress. If you want extra cush or your'e snow camping use two sleeping pads underneath you. Besides your tent, your sleeping bag is the most important piece of camping equipment. If you spend a sleepless night shivering away, your trip is going to be miserable. Check out 3-season-sleeping-bags.com for information on all different types of sleeping bags. Click on any of the pictures to learn more about that particular sleeping bag.
You probably already have a lot of stuff that you can use for camping in your house.

Here's a short list of camping equipment:

Shelter - Tent, poles, stakes, ground sheet
Sleeping - Sleeping bag, sleeping pad
Essentials - Water bottles, waterproof matches/lighter, map & compass, basic first aid kit, whistle and/or signal mirror, nylon cord-50', pocket knife, emergency blanket, extra food, extra clothing, sunglasses, sunscreen, water purification, headlamp or flashlight and extra batteries. Keep these items in your day pack when you go hiking or quading and exploring.
Cooking - Cook set, spoon/knife/fork set, biodegradable soap, scrub pad, food
Base camp accessories - Cooler/ice chest, water bag or large jug, dish pan, paper towels, lantern, storage containers for food, Ziploc bags, large spoon, knife, spatula, can opener, small whisk, small grater, hot pad holders, plate/bowl, cup, cutting board, aluminum foil, spice kit.
Miscellaneous - bandana, camera, binoculars, repair/sewing kit, fishing gear, journal/pen or pencil, reading material, nature guides, trail games, trowel, toilet paper, personal toiletries, lip balm, bug repellant, towel, day pack.

Make sure you take clothing appropriate for the climate you expect to encounter.
Inner Layer - wicking layer: long underwear top & bottom, liner socks, outer socks, t-shirt, shorts
Insulation Layer - Wool, synthetic or fleece shirt/sweater down/fiberfill jacket, wool or fleece pants, gloves, wool or fleece hat.
Protective layer - Rain/windproof jacket & pants, gaiters, hiking boots waterproofed, camp shoes, sun hat.
Happy Trails to you!

Im going backpacking for two months. What would be the best backpack for a 5'10 girl carrying only essentials?

lacrossesu

I weigh 125kg and will be taking clothes, toiletries, a first aid kit and laptop. Travelling to Thailand and Cambodia for just over 2 months. Any guidelines on what make backpack/size to take? and any things I might not have thought about taking? Thank you. Summer.

Answer
You should go into a shop specialising in outdoor equipments etc and get a properly fitted backpack. While I don't know what is the best brand out there (I personally use Lowe Alpine) but I was advised the following re fitting of backpack to prevent injuring my back and shoulder:

1) when carried, the backpack must not be tower over your head
2) the hip belt support should sit nicely over your hips to fdistribute the weight properly
3) reasonably broad shoulder strap to distribute pressure, not soft-foam type though
4) look for bag with cooling back panel and side pocket for water bottle

You can look for backpack with detachable daypack. That way, during the travel, you can leave your main pack at the hostel / check in during flights and have your daypack with important stuff with you. I personally prefer using slingback that I can keep an eye on at all time (daypack attached to backpack to your back is not something you can look after easily, especially in crowded places - some people circumvent this by carrying the daypack in front of them like a pouch).

Don't forget to get a waterproof backpack cover. That way you can zip the bag and all the straps up when you check it in at the airport (some backpack comes with inbuilt cover that you roll out and zip over the backpack).

Bring light weight clothes. It's going to be hot and humid, so long sleeves are not necessary. Bring a pashmina, which will come in handy for temporary covering over your arms say when you go in to certain places of worship, or if it's cool-ish in the evening/after rain, it'll help to keep you warmer. Bring a good pair of sturdy walking shoes, but not thick leathery ones because it'll be too warm to wear that. Good outdoor strappy sandals may be more useful, and one that can withstand lots of water (e.g. to use when you're in the shower/bathroom, esp at hostels) will be better.

To have a basic first aid kit is good. Don't forget to get your vaccinations before leaving. On top of that, other important things are malarial tablets, sun block (the higher the SPF the better) and insect repellent. An umbrella will be handy as well (not just for rain - it's great for shielding the afternoon sun too).

Of course, the real essentials: passport, money, air tickets. Everything else can pretty much be bought if you accidentally forget them. Additional items you may really want to have with you would be guide book, camera (with spare batteries and memory card), charger, mobile phone, music player (ipod) and a book or two ;)

Before you leave, pack everything in and take a walk around a few blocks around where you live. You should be able to comfortably carry the bag with its contents and walk around for a good 15-20 minutes (if not more). Otherwise, you're bringing too much.

Hope you have lots of fun!

I would like to buy waterproof camera and I am in dilemma between PANASONIC LUMIX DMC-TS2 and OLYMPUS STYLUS TOUGH-8010. Please tell me which one do you find better and why.

Or you can suggest me something else. It is important to me that it is waterproof 10m, have wide angle, make quality videos and make great shots underwater...

Thanks!

Answer
These are main features difference :

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS2 : 4.6x Optical zoom, Dustproof = Yes, Crushproof = No, Continuous Drive = 1.8 fps, Storage included = 40 MB Internal.

Olympus Stylus Tough 8010 : 5x Optical zoom, Dustproof = No, Crushproof = Yes, Continuous Drive = 5 fps, Storage included = 2 GB Internal.

For the spec Olympus Stylus Tough 8010 is better, but rating review/popular camera a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS2 is better, The final is depend on you.

Waterproof Camera Got Wet And Broke?

I have a Pentax Optio WS 80, I decided to record my dog swimming around in the pool & I wanted to record his little feet while in the water. My camera broke. This isn't the first time I've put it underwater, the other times ; it was just fine. What can I do? Will it go back to normal?

Answer
To completely dry out the camera try Silica Gel Packets. There was a good article on associatedcontent.com that explains how to dry an iPod, MP3 player, cell phones, or any electronics. You need to take the battery out and place your camera and battery in a zip lock bag with Silica Gel Packets. Silica Gel will remove all the moisture from the camera and its components, something air drying will not do!

Just Google "Silica Gel Packets" and you will find several companies selling these products. There is also a web site called: http://www.SilicaGelPackets.com that has them.

Answer
Other than from a local store, eBay, Amazon, and Kodak all sell varieties of Under Water Cameras online. The prices can be as low as $7.00 U.S.D. to an expensive $500.00 U.S.D.

The actual leash that you're looking for is typically sold separately, but can be found online from $10.00 U.S.D., whereas a flexible arm attatchment can cost as much as $80.00 U.S.D.

Here's a link to browse for what you need: http://www.google.com/products?hl=en&q=under+water+camera&um=1&ie=UTF-8&ei=BnHHS_VKh7AyvvyVyQM&sa=X&oi=product_result_group&ct=title&resnum=3&ved=0CDUQrQQwAg.

I'm looking for a camera to record home skatebording, hockey, and snowboarding videos for youtube. I don't want to be a photographer or anything.

Which do you suggest?

The canon is about 100 cheaper, so I'm thinking that.

Answer
I found a list of all the best sports cameras in the market now:

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_4_7?url=search-alias%3Delectronics&field-keywords=sports+camera&sprefix=sports+%2Celectronics%2C405#/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Delectronics&field-keywords=gopro+sports+camera&rh=n%3A172282%2Ck%3Agopro+sports+camera&tag=faumioe-20

For your skateboarding movie i would recommend the GoPro HD Motorsports Hero. Its a really good camera with great results and its light on the pocket too. Its features include:
-Professional-grade full HD video up to 1080p
-60 frames per second option in 720p and WVGA resolutions provides liquid smooth slow
motion playback
-Videos can be easily edited with iMovie or Windows Movie Maker
-Industry's widest angle (170º) and sharpest lens captures more of the scene, including you
-Includes easy-to-apply mounts for attaching camera to any helmet, motorcycle, car, ATV, jet
ski, snowmobile, boat, or virtually any vehicle.
-Impact-resistant housing is waterproof to 180 ft (60 meters)

Answer
Like he said, also you can get the Kodak PlaySport Zx3 or Zx5. They take good well actually great video! It has WVGA, 720p, 720p 60 fps, and 1080p. The Zx5 has better video quality and the Zx3 has a little better sound. They are waterproof. But the Zx5 is dustproof and shockproof. The Zx3 has a external battery you can take out. The Zx5 is internal and you have to send it in to replace the battery. I have the Zx5. I love mine. The Zx3 has a Mini HDMI cable that it comes with one and the Zx5 has a Micro HDMI cable that doesn't come with it in the box. In the box is a paper that you can register you camera for free. I got mine for free. Shipping may apply where you live, it can be free or not be free. The Zx3 comes with an AV cable. The Zx5 does not. The Zx3 has more accessories that comes with it than the Zx5 does. Also it has a reset button the Zx5, but I think it may have a reset button on the Zx3 but I don't know. You can buy a remote for them too and floating wrist strap or lanyard. Or however you spell it. They both hold up to 32GB SDHC or just SD cards. It needs to be class 4 or higher. I have a couple of them. 2 8's, 2 4's and a couple more. So yeah. This is a great camera to use, if you don't want that, get the Kodak PlayTouch. It's a good camera too except that it's not waterproof. But hey. They come in cool colors too! The Zx5 has DIS (Digital Image Stabilization) and the Zx3 has EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization) that you can turn off and the Zx5, you can't turn it off. The Zx5 is better on that one. They are great cameras, takes 5.1 Megapixel pictures too! If you want more details, type Kodak Playsport Zx3 or Zx5 manual. It does full HD :) it's waterproof up to 10 ft(3 meters) and shockproof up to 5 ft(1.5 meters).

Alec

So I have this camera, Canon PowerShot D10 12.1 MP Waterproof Digital Camera with 3x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.5-inch LCD. It says its waterproof up to 33 feet. My mother said that I need to buy a case for it to go underwater since I might ruin it. But, I don't think so because its made to go underwater. But, I don't want to risk it. Please help!

Answer
No, it doesn't need the underwater housing. It is a "Waterproof" camera.

What would be a good digital camera to buy?

Ling Lao

I am considering in buying a digital camera and I really want a good one that is sweatproof, waterproof, has really god zooming.... etc etc. So what exactly should someone be looking for in a camera? Can anyone sugest to me any type of good cameras and any good websites? Thank you very much in advance.

Answer
The Best Sweatproof and Waterproof camera at the moment is the Olympus Stylus 1030SW. You can see it at Amazon here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0011E87RM/?tag=amazon-digital-cameras-20

The optical zoom is limited to just 3.6x Optical which isnât very long.

Another option would be to buy a âNon-Waterproofâ camera and then buy a Camera Housing for it. The Camera Housing fits over the camera and provides protection from water. You can view some of Canon Camera Housings here: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=search&A=search&Q=&ci=0&sb=ps&sq=desc&sortDrop=Relevance&ac=&bsi=&bhs=t&shs=waterproof+case&ci=5237&at=Brand_Canon&basicSubmit=Submit+Query

Hope that helps :)

Best Regards,
Dusty

Do you know any place where I could find a good underwater camera less than 1000$?

underwater cameras uk image

Emma

I really want to start doing underwater photography, but I can not find a good camera anywhere that is less than 1000$. If anyone has one they got pretty inexpensive, please tell me!!! Thanks.

Answer
Totally depends on how deep underwater you want to go, most camera manufacturers make cameras that can withstand being 30ft or so underwater, Pentax and Olympus come strait to mind, prices for the whole camera start at around $200.

http://www.srsmicrosystems.co.uk/6415/Pentax-Optio-WG1-GPS-Orange-Digital-Camera---SALE-.html

If you want to go deeper than that then everything gets more expensive rapidly, up to around 80ft, a simple plastic housing works ($1000), beyond that (100ft - 150 ft) and you need a metal and glass/plastic pressurised housing ($5000).

Beyond a 200ft and you need an armoured pressurised housing and your into real money ($100,000 +), and the cost of a hoist to lift it in and out of the water.

Every 33ft puts one more atmosphere of pressure onto the camera (and you).

We will be there in a few days..What can I expect, and appropriately what should I wear?

Answer
Please wear what is comfortable for you.

°A bathing suit under your tank top, shorts is fine. You can remove the tank top and/ or shorts if you are comfortable with it.
°If you have aqua shoes, please wear it. It will protect your feet from the stones and will give you a better footing (grip on the slippery walkway).
°Waterproof camera (the disposable ones work fine).
°A towel, comb, fresh change of clothes.
°Money for tips; the boatmen earn via tips.

Happy travels.
