I would like to buy waterproof camera and I am in dilemma between PANASONIC LUMIX DMC-TS2 and OLYMPUS STYLUS TOUGH-8010. Please tell me which one do you find better and why.

Or you can suggest me something else. It is important to me that it is waterproof 10m, have wide angle, make quality videos and make great shots underwater...

Thanks!

Answer
These are main features difference :

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS2 : 4.6x Optical zoom, Dustproof = Yes, Crushproof = No, Continuous Drive = 1.8 fps, Storage included = 40 MB Internal.

Olympus Stylus Tough 8010 : 5x Optical zoom, Dustproof = No, Crushproof = Yes, Continuous Drive = 5 fps, Storage included = 2 GB Internal.

For the spec Olympus Stylus Tough 8010 is better, but rating review/popular camera a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS2 is better, The final is depend on you.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS2 : 14.1 MP Waterproof Digital Camera, 4.6x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom, 2.7-Inch LCD, Waterproof down to 10 meters, Shockproof (rated for drops up to 6 feet), Freezeproof, Dustproof, Record high-definition movie in AVCHD Lite, etc.

Olympus Stylus Tough 8010 : 14MP, 5x Wide Angle Zoom, 2.7 inch LCD, Waterproof (33ft.), Shockproof (6.6ft.), Freezeproof, Crushproof, HD Video 720p, etc. (Announced : February, 2010)

What is a good camera to buy?

I want a new camera. it needs to have a sports setting, be digital, and either be waterproof or i can buy a waterproof case that would fit it. it can't be too expensive. I would like it to be able to fit it into my pocket for nights out with friends. thanks!

Answer
Kodak PlaySport (Zx3) HD Waterproof Pocket Video Camera would be perfect for you.

I am a Canon diehard fan. But Canon will not have anything that compares to Kodak Playsport HD waterproof pocket video camera. At 1080P the video clip recording is acceptable. But, at 720p and 60 frames per second this camera rocks, the outcomes are great. I've applied it close to and in water, the blue filter helps beneath water. I am preparing to utilize this for our Disney World this holiday from the water parks.

This camera takes 5MP HD Stills, so now I've a camera that may get video and stills on demand moist or dry. I have other camera's inside the same class like Flip and Samsung each tend not to evaluate, even at 720p 60 frames per 2nd. $150.00 pricetag can also be really affordable.

Simple to carry, very person friendly to move files through the digital camera towards the personal computer or right to Youtube. Nightvision could be good but most of my recordings will likely be in Daylight. Bottom line fantastic digital camera and I've no cons to talk about.

What is the best quality video camera i could get for £150 or under?

(:

Answer
ZX5 Playsport Black Pocket CamcorderIf youâre going to live with no limits you need a digital video camera that can deliver the goods in full 1080p HD. And built-in image stabilization smooths out even the roughest ride. Whether youâre carving up the mountain or pulling stunts in the skate park the PLAYSPORT Video Camera / Zx5 is up for anything. And with a touch of the Share button shocking your social network couldnât be simpler.

Q. Hi, I've recently been having problems with my Sony Cyber-Shot camera (the camera says "Use with compatible battery only"), and I think I was going to buy another one soon anyways. What would be a good Point&Shoot camera. I would like one with:
-A Rechargeable battery, not AA for example.
-Pretty good optical zoom and mega pixels
-Not too expensive
-Takes videos which you can listen to ON the camera!
Thank you!!
~Erin :)

Answer
Hi!
I think that the brand 'Olympus' is by far the best. They have a range of cameras to suit what you need at quite fair prices. I have an Olympus, it looks good, takes excellent pictures, is not big and bulky and it has a digital battery.
One of the best cameras ever made would have to be the latest Olympus camera. It is waterproof AND shockproof, meaning you can drop it from up to 5 metres and it wont even leave a scratch, not to mention the accessories, eg, the mirror on one side of it so you can see yourself when you take the picture.
The choice is totally up to you, but I would DEF go for an Olympus!!!

We are visiting Cancun for first time leaving July 22 staying at the Oasis Cancun. Any tips traveling with a 7 & 12 year old.?Suggestions on activities they might enjoy? Is it safe to drink the water? What about money exchange? First time snorkeling should we bring our own equipment or rent? What about underwater cameras can you rent one or are the disposable ok? Any helpful info. would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Answer
First, ofcourse the water is safe, just because its mexico doesnt mean anything, second you SHOULDNT leave your kids at a day care, from experince i wouldnt do it if i were you, sometimes the daycares in Cancun are very very unsafe. dont worry about money exchange, they accept American dollars and American Coins, but if you still want to exchange money, in the airport youll find a money exchange section thing, but i advise you two use american money , and underwater cameras are avalible to purchase, yes they are disposable, its just like in the U.S, and you should defentily rent the snorkeling equipment, its cheap and it works hope i helpes, any ques just email me, i have lots of experince
oh and you can also exchange money at the local bank

How well does the waterproof Kodak cameras work?

Nereidofth

I found this: http://www.walgreens.com/store/product.jsp?CATID=100381&navAction=jump&navCount=0&id=prod378899# at Walgreens, and I'm going diving soon, so I just wanted to ask, does this camera work pretty well? If not, do any of you have any *cheap* recommendations?

Answer
I've used an underwater camera this last summer when my kids and I went to a water park. It wasn't a Kodak brand but it worked pretty well, I took some pictures of the kids underwater it was pretty cool actually. I mean, you're not going to get a LOT of detail with it, but it'll do the job. The one I used had this deal you could put around your wrist so I thought that was neat too so you couldn't use it. Go for it.

I'm needing a waterproof camera case for my canon camera. I'm only using it for jet skiing but just in case it falls in the water I want a case for it. I'm kind of afraid to buy one as I've heard of some of these leaking! Anyone know of a good quality case for under $40, if there is one? Thanks.

What are some good waterproof digital cameras?

olympus waterproof camera 720p on Olympus Stylus Tough-8010 Waterproof Camera Preview | Camera News ...
olympus waterproof camera 720p image

frecklefac

I've always thought it was a really cool idea, and lately I've been looking into getting one. I've looked at some from Canon and Olympus. I'm leaning towards Canon's D10 because it gets good reviews, is slightly cheaper than Olympus models, and because I really like Canon cameras.
Anyone that owns this camera or another waterproof camera-
Is it good price considering that it would only get moderate use?
Do you recommend this camera, or another one?
Would I be better off getting a waterproof case for my current camera (a Canon powershot a570)?

Thanks so much!

Answer
Here are 5 top rated waterproof cameras:

1. Canon PowerShot D10

$330, 12.1MP; 3X optical zoom; waterproof to 33 feet
Canonâs first foray into waterproof digital compacts looks like a cross between a Digital ELPH and a diving bell. With a waterproof rating down to 33 feet, itâs among the deepest divers in this category, but its 2.5-inch LCD and optically stabilized 35â105mm (equivalent) f/2.8â4.9 zoom lens arenât at the front of this pack. Like the other cameras here, the D10 is freeze- and shockproof, in this case surviving temperatures down to 14 degrees Fahrenheit and falls of up to 4 feet.

2. Fujifilm Finepix Z33WP

$200, 10MP; 3X optical zoom; waterproof to 10 feet
Borrowing design cues from Fujiâs teen-targeted Z30, this underwater shooter is one of the tiniest and most stylish, as well as the most affordable. Its 2.7-inch LCD is as large as they come on this type of compact. But itâs waterproof only to 10 feet, and its 10MP and 35â105mm (equivalent) f/3.7â4.2 optical zoom arenât groundbreaking.

3. Olympus Stylus Tough 8000

$400, 12MP; 3.6X optical zoom; waterproof to 33 feet
Olympus offers some of the most rugged compact cameras you can get, and its latest fits the mold. You can shoot down to 33 feet underwater, drop the camera from up to 6.6 feet, and use it in temperatures down to 14 degrees Fahrenheit. Plus, its metal construction can withstand up to 220 pounds of pressure. Sensorshift image stabilization combats hand shake, and the zoom, while not league-leading, spans an equivalent 28â102mm f/3.5â5.1.

4. Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS1

$400, 12.1MP; 4.6X optical zoom; waterproof to 10 feet
Panasonic has stepped up to the pool in a strong way with its first waterproof digital camera. Its optically stabilized 28â128mm (equivalent) f/3.3â5.9 zoom offers a nice balance of wide angle for underwater and midrange tele for land-based adventures. At 12.1MP, it affords plenty of resolution, and it has an ample 2.7-inch LCD. While we wish it could go deeper than 10 feet, its 720p video recording should make playing in the backyard pool more fun than ever.

5. Pentax Optio W60

$250, 10MP; 5X optical zoom; waterproof to 13 feet
Pentax was one of the first to offer dunkable digital cameras with its WP series years ago, and now itâs a major force. This model has plenty of room to the left of the lens to hold onto, and we like the 720p video recording, though weâd rather have a faster rate than its 15 frames per second. Its Super Macro mode should be a boon below the surface, letting you focus as close as 0.4 inches from the front of the 28â140mm (equivalent) f/3.5â5.5 lens.

Underwater Digital Camera help?

oh heyy

I want to get an amazing underwater digital camera, I love photography and don't want to have to worry about the camera getting wet. I also would love it to have as good a zoom and picture quality possible. I really like the Canon Powershot d10, but it is so bulky and I'm scared that if I buy it, a new, better camera will come out. I don't need a new camera until summer 2010, do you know if there will be a new model of an underwater camera coming out?!

Thanks!

If you like to get out there and have fun, the Stylus Tough 6020 camera from Olympus® is the one for you. It's rugged enough to handle whatever you can dish out, and smart enough to take incredible pictures while you're doing it. Not only is it waterproof, freezeproof and shockproof, it's also packed with amazing technology like one-touch HD movie recording.

I love photography and am looking to buy a legit, high tech, digital camera. What are the best out there?

I prefer to have the options of having an attachable fisheye lens, and possibly the option of a waterproof digital camera. Say money is not an issue... what cameras are most reccommended?

Answer
Olympus makes pretty good water proof point and shoot cameras. Shock resistant too.

Fish eyes are typically used on SLRs, which will cost you a quit a bit more (especially if you want to go under water). You might be able to get a fish-eye adapter for a point & shoot. Check B&H Photo for a comprehensive inventory and very good prices.

Note to the other poster, you can get an underwater case for an SLR, but they typically run about $2000 for a hard case. Ewa-Marine makes soft "Zip-Loc" style bags for about $200, but the optics aren't as good.

The Sanyo VPC-WH1YL (http://www.digitalimaginghq.com/sanyo-vpcwh1yl-yellow-hd-waterproof-flash-memory-digital-camcorder.html) is a bit above your price range but honestly, totally worth the money. i dont like pentax WP-series and i already have the WPi. is there another make, olympus? any others? and how much are they. (in pounds please)

Answer
Bushnell makes an outdoors water resistant camera, looks durable yellow or green & black it costs less than the pentax w30 and much less than the Olympus. Otherwise if you plan on going underwater the Olympus is rated for 33 feet about 10 meters! I am also looking - undecided. Pentax is the cheapest so far for waterproof - unfortunately.

Underwater camera cases!?

I.am.not.a

We're off on holiday to australia and a lot of the things we plan to do are water orientated. I'm taking my digital camera, a samsung PL150. (double screened) and I really need a case of some sorts for underwater. I've seen the bag type ones on ebay, but I don't know how good they are:/ Any advice? Thanks

Answer
The baggy style are only good for 2-3m depth at best, they are really designed more as anti splash rather than true waterproof.

There are so called universal housings (such as this one) rated to 10m which would be usable for snorkelling and shallow diving.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Polaroid-Dive-Rated-Waterproof-Camera-Housing/dp/B004FS2DB2/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1302960934&sr=8-3

However you are better of getting a dedicated housing, especially if you are likely to be using it very often. But be prepared to pay as much as you did for the camera if not more.

Do you think the K2000 or K200D is better?

Which one is newer? Is the K200D waterproof?

Answer
Here are the two camera specs side by side. Note the K2000 is the KM here in the UK.

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare_post.asp?method=sidebyside&cameras=pentax_k200d%2Cpentax_km&show=all

Personally I would go for the K200D as the KM doesn't have the top screen which handy for reviewing your settings when using a tripod, with the KM you have to peer into the viewfinder which can be tricky sometimes, a backwards step IMHO. The KM is the newer model.

The K200D is not waterproof, but none of the Pentax DSLR (or any other for that matter) are, some are weatherproof, theres a world of difference between weatherproof and waterproof. There are not many weatherproof lenses in the Pentax range yet so its pretty academic, though they are addressing that.

Pentax has had a policy of mimicking film cameras when converting to Jpeg in camera which has received some criticism. The idea is that their system holds onto more data in the conversion (little sharpening for example), you can alter this in camera. With the KM they have reverted to a more conventional conversion with a more usable image strait out of the camera. Note this doesn't effect the RAW files which will be identical.

What's a good, new brand, and water proof video camera under $200?

Joseph

I've got $200 and I'm trying to find a good camera for tornado chasing. So, I have a few questions:

#1. What's the BEST brand?
#2. What's the video camera called?
#3. How well does it do when wet (I really need a waterproof or water resistant)
#4. How much does it cost? (Has to be under $200)
#5. Where can I get it?
#6. Does it need an SD or SDHC card?

Answer
Kodak PlaySport is the camera you are looking for, it's priced $140 on Amazon (see the link below) and can record in Full HD 1080p! And of course, waterproof for your needs. It needs SDHC memory card. Buy it together as amazon suggests with additional battery and 16 GB card and you are still under $200. And reviews of the users are awesome...

I am stormchaser as well, but here in Europe, I have purchased this camera yesterday from amazon UK, can't wait to arrive :)

Most websites will say it was Dr. Robert Ballard in 1985. Some say it was the Sollis Project in 1978 with HMS Hecate being named by Dr. Paul Lee. The poor quality of the photos in The Observer newspaper in 1985 certainly does not appear to be of the quality of those crystal clear pictures only a year later and raises serious doubts about where and when they came from. The immediate impression is perhaps Dr. Lee is right but I have spoken to photographers who have said there were land cameras before 1920 with better quality. I know waterproof cameras didn't exist then and don't know when they were invented but when were the first ones not only good enough for diving but strong enough to take pressure at the depth Titanic lays?
Would cameras in perhaps the late 1950s or 1960s have been of a good enough standard? If so, could someone have found the ship, taken the photos that were used in the newspaper years later, knowing something about Dr. Ballard's movements and kept the story quiet but still passed on the images? If it was during the Cold War (like the Sollis Project) and by a warship this would make sense, maybe even by the Russians and would be covered by secrets acts. I have to ask this because I still don't understand why that now the last survivor has died, that secrets are still out of the public domain.
Has anyone got any more information?

Answer
Dr Ballard was definitely the first to see it in real time via the ROV 'Argo', however it may not have happened had it not been for two lost submarines, http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2008/06/080602-titanic-secret.html

Answer
I go for 1-month camping and hiking trips with a 50 litre pack.
The bigger the pack the more you cram into it. The more you carry the heavier it is and it slows you down.
The tent and sleeping bag go on the outside with waterproof covers. Black bin liner bags are good for that. Carry a couple of spare ones. They weigh almost nothing and they are very useful for sorting stuff and putting wet things in.You can fix the tent and sleeping bag onto the rucksack with elastic bungee cords. Bend the hooks in a bit so they are safer and don't stick out so much. It's easy to do.
Most packs have outside pockets for water bottles.
Everything else you need will fit into a 40 litre pack but everything else you want to take might not.
I don't carry home luxuries, but I do have some field biology equipment with me most times and some photo equipment. There is still loads of space in my pack.
It's laughable...well, sad really...how much stuff some people carry.
Things that just might be useful stay at home.
Everything I carry gets used because I only carry what I need.
I used to teach outdoor stuff in the Army. How to pack is the first bit of it.
Keep it neat, and well organised, with the things you need most often packed where you can get to them easily. A small front pack helps with that, big enough for a map, compass, camera, tissues, notebook and pen etc.

Here is an answer about how to find your way around without a compass....just using nature.
http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100517035843AAPTjhO . . . . .
If you have a Millets in town have a look at some rucksacks in there. You can get good brands like Vango and Berghaus sometimes just as cheap as Argos. The pack in the link looks a good shape but the straps look quite thin. With a bit of weight in the pack they won't be comfortable.
The better packs have straps for fixing tents and sleeping bags onto the outside, and a waist band that goes right round and makes the pack easier to carry and more stable. The shoulder straps are wide and padded, so they are more comfortable and don't bite into you.
The only good way to buy a pack is to try it on first. They have different designs and some can be adjusted to fit a particular person and some can't. You can only tell if it's right for you by fitting it on. It's your shoulders doing the carrying...take care of yourself and get a pack that fits you.

Where can I find a good water proof camera at a decent price?

ReRe504

I'm planning on going to a water park this year and would like to bring my Canon digital camera but I don't want it damaged. So what's a good water proof camera I can bring but at a good price?

Answer
You have several options.

The cheapest option: Buy an disposable underwater film camera from Kodak or Fujifilm, which is essentially a disposable camera in a sealed plastic case.

Next cheapest option: Go onto eBay and look for a Canon WP-1 underwater 35mm film camera, usually used for around $20.

Next option: Find an underwater case for your existing Canon digital camera. That's what I did for my Canon point and shoot. The case cost about $125 and it's available at places like http://www.bhphotovideo.com for the Canon-branded model. However, you can also buy generic underwater soft cases for under $50 for a point and shoot. Check out http://www.aquapac.net which has cases typically sold at places like REI.

Finally, the most expensive option: a new digital camera that's waterproof. Both Olympus and Pentax make such cameras. For Olympus, look at the Olympus 1030SW or 850SW. For Pentax, try the Pentax W60 or W30.

best digital camera for pictures of kids?

waterproof digital cameras for kids on Timberland Junior 6-Inch Classic Waterproof Boot - Reviews & Prices ...
waterproof digital cameras for kids image

heyyy ther

What the best camera on the market these days? Don't much care about price, well maybe like 500-600 or less. I know I should go with dslr, but i need something i can have with me at all times so i need something compact. so whats the best out there for mostly taking pictures of an active 3yr old and active puppies?? Wouldn't mind having something waterproof
also, in general what should i be looking for like megapixel wise and what not?

Answer
The smaller cameras are generally limited by the fact that they can't really take pictures of anything that won't sit still. When you are taking pictures of active 3 year olds and active puppies, having them sit still is nothing short of a miracle.

Waterproofness is more of a gimic in my book, so i consider it here.

The best one on the market in my opinion is the Canon s95. <------------
It is small compact.
has the largest sensor available for that size.
Has a very fast aperture of f/2.0 (in cameras, faster apertures let in more light, lower number the faster)
Deals reasonablly well in low light too.

Other than that, Other chocies would includef
Canon 550d + 50mm f/1.8
or
Olympus PEN - some kind of fast lens.
You would choose these cameras because they have a faster aperture (f/1.8) and a larger sensor.

Like the other person said, the iphone 4 is a great camera to have with you all day long, especially with it's new integrated technology that improves low light pictures. That being said, the iphone or any smaller camera is sitll limited by the fact that the subject, kids, dogs need to sit still for the picture to be taken.

Dont' worry about megapixels. You only need megapixles if you are going to blow up the picture and put it into a huge frame like 20inches x 30inches. 5 is more than enough to enlarge the picture to 8x11 already.
The things i consider are important include
- fast aperture (2.8 is standard around point and shoots, 2.0 is faster <-- Canon s95)
- larger sensor
- and i don't worry about zoom. when taking pictures of kids, i'm usually right next to them.

Hi, i live in a good neighborhood, but i have a neighbor who lives in the same street than I, he wants to make a very strong vandalism in my house and I'd like to catch him.

Answer
This camera would be suitable.
It has infra-red lights to work at night, 160' of cable and connects to your TV.
If you plug it into your video recorder you can show people what your neighbour does.

Or there's a wireless version, good if you want to move it around. But it's heavy on batteries if you can't plug it in and the range isn't brilliant.

Some guys get a regular digital camera and mount it inside their helmet or to a metal bracket on there gas tank. There are also what's referred to as bullet cameras. There are about the size of a lipstick tube and can mount virtually anywhere. The downside is you need to connect it to a regular camcorder in a backpack to record.

Check out the Oregon Scientific ATC2K Action Cam. It's a waterproof battery operated digital recorder that saves video to a 2GB SDCard. It can record in three different resolutions and frame rates. It's only $100 too.
