So I 2012 summer is coming fast and I really need a waterproof camera for all the amazing adventures I am going to be doing. I looked on amazon.com but most of the really nice ones had bad reviews about how they don't really work under water! I need a real person who has had experience with waterproof cameras to please help me! I really love taking pictures and have always had a passion for photography. <3 I love it with all my heart and I don't seem to know anybody who has a waterproof camera. PLEASE HELP ME. I'm 15 and having an awesome summer (NO SCHOOL) is what everybody wants. You know what I mean? My 2012 summer has to be awesome. Please help me!

Answer
one drop of water on your camera electronics means disaster, so don't do the "do-it-yourself" projects. A great camera that is rugged, compact, and waterproof is the Olympus Stylus 550WP. That is a camera that i had before giving to a friend, and was well pleased with its performance.

Best choice point and shoot ($300-$450)?

Rachel Cro

I am looking for a good camera for indoor pictures. I have 3 little kids and take a million shots indoors, but the little $100 camera I have doesn't take decent pictures. I've looked into it a bit and have found a few with good reviews and decent picture quality. The few I've looked into:

Olympus TG-1iHS 12 MP Waterproof Digital Camera with 4x Optical Zoom
Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX30V 18.2 MP Exmor R CMOS Digital Camera with 20x Optical Zoom and 3.0-inch LCD (Black) (2012 Model)
Nikon COOLPIX P310 16.1 MP CMOS Digital Camera with 4.2x Zoom NIKKOR Glass Lens and Full HD 1080p Video
Nikon COOLPIX L810 16.1 MP Digital Camera with 26x Zoom NIKKOR ED Glass Lens and 3-inch LCD (Red)
Fujifilm XF1/Blk 12MP Digital Camera with 3-Inch LCD (Black)
Olympus XZ-1 10 MP Digital Camera with f1.8 Lens and 3-Inch OLED Monitor (Black)
Canon PowerShot SX260 HS 12.1 MP CMOS Digital Camera with 20x Image Stabilized Zoom 25mm Wide-Angle Lens and 1080p Full-HD Video (Black)
Panasonic DMC-FZ150K 12.1 MP Digital Camera with CMOS Sensor and 24x Optical Zoom (Black)
Nikon COOLPIX P510 16.1 MP CMOS Digital Camera with 42x Zoom NIKKOR ED Glass Lens and GPS Record Location (Black)

I was wondering if anyone had one of these or a decent knowledge of them and could advise me on which would be best for what I'm looking for. Or another suggestion of a camera that takes good indoor pictures. I work a lot in low light and with fast kids. I'm not expecting a miracle - point and shoot cameras can only do so much, but... Any help would be appreciated!

Answer
Nikon and canon make quality cameras. They will give you a camera that will last. Most of these cameras will brake easily, but canons and nikons won't. You can choose any from these two companies.

What is the best action video camera that can take pictures too?

I want to take good quality video of action events - mounts on cars, helmets etc. so that i can sell it to people, also i want the same camera to be able to link to an instant photo printer.

What video camera could do this? I am from South Africa and my budget is +-R10,000 or $1,200 or less. If there is nothing at this range then what is the next most inexpensive one and at how much?

One more thing, it must be able to link up to a computer and store footage/pictures directly on the computer.
Thank you for that reply Vwbe, but I have looked at Drift and Go Pro but this is not good enough quality from the videos i saw when the videos are compared and shown at the same time on YouTube when viewed on even 720HD. It is not smooth enough for my purposes, as there is still a bit of jerkiness that makes it look home "videoey".

Answer
when you travel, you want to record some video on the way?
here is a helmet sports action camera is very suit for you, video 720P(1280x720P) and photo 2560Ã1920 JPG photographs:

If you want more better quality video, you can get a 1080P Car DVR, but it not easy to set on helmets:

I'm looking for a camera which is priced around £100-£150, I need a camera which is pocket sized. Should look professional. I would like it to be pocket sized and maybe waterproof? I know what I'm asking for expensive. I don't want it to be heavy in weight. I don't want a camera which requires batteries. It should also have a good mega pixel.
It doesn't matter if the following above in not involved, it's just the price which I'm worried about.
It would be great if you gave me some links and what to purchase and not to purchase.

What camera would be good?

Thanks for reading

Answer
"Which one is a good camera to buy?" is a VERY common question here on YA.
A quick search would have given you hundreds of instant replies (without having to wait for answers), but once again here is my 10 cents on the subject:

I don't like to give recommendations for particular cameras because there are too many choices and too many variables in what people are looking for. I find it much more useful to help you think this over, then make up your own mind.

First of all, wanting a "professional looking" yet toy sized camera doesn't make any sense. Would you ask to race in a Formula 1 event on a toddler's tricycle? Oh and yes..... ALL digital cameras require batteries.

Point & Shoot cameras are wonderfully handy because of their small size.
When light conditions are ideal, they even take really nice photos - all of them do.

However, they all DO have limitations - they don't do very well in low light situations (i.e. noisy photos, hard to avoid blur, etc). The little onboard flash is very harsh at close range, and doesn't reach very far.
Many of them have no manual functions, so you are limited to only very basic photos, you can't compensate for unusual situations, or do many fun "tricks" and special effects.
P&S's also suffer from frustrating shutterlag and many of them chew through batteries rather quickly.

If you're ok with all those limitations, then go ahead and pick one, most of them (the same type and same price range) are rather similar. Personally I would pick either a Canon or a Nikon, and would certainly stay away from Kodak and Vivitar.

A higher end P&S will give you more manual options and better quality. Many of those even give you the option of adding a proper flash (which makes a big difference to your flash photos).

Don't worry too much about megapixels - all modern cameras have plenty enough, plus there is a limit to how many pixels you can squash into a tiny P&S sensor before you actually LOSE quality rather than gain it. 6 megapixels is about the upper limit for those little sensors.
Don't worry about digital zoom, in fact, don't EVER use it. It simply crops away pixels, i.e. destroys information. The only real zoom is optical.

Some people ask for a camera that "doesn't take blurry photos". Blur is the photographer's problem, NOT the camera's. Even the most expensive camera will take blurry photos if the person behind it doesn't know what they're doing.

Some words about special effect features such as color accent, or even just b/w or sepia:
About applying any sort of effect in camera: DON'T DO IT !
Imagine if you just happen to take the best photo you ever took - surely you would want to have it in all its glory, right?
Always set your camera to biggest size, best quality (and to color).
That way, you start with the best possible photo as your original.
Then you make a copy and edit it to your heart's content.
You have much better control over any editing on your computer, even something as simple as b&w will look MUCH better when it was processed properly instead of in camera.
You can do all sorts of things to it PLUS you get to keep your original.

Decide which features are important to you, and look for cameras that have that feature.
Then go compare a few models on www.dpreview.com .

The very best thing you can do for your success is to borrow some books and learn about photography. A bit of knowledge will make a much bigger difference to your photos than your choice of P&S camera can.

For what it's worth - if I was in the market for a P&S camera right now, my choice would be a Canon Powershot SX40 HS http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/cameras/digital_cameras/powershot_sx40_hs#Specifications

is kodak a good brand or not?

Answer
On the eve of the 2006 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Eastman Kodak Company announced the new KODAK EASYSHARE Z650 zoom digital camera, the latest model in its Z-series line.

The 6.1-megapixel camera offers aspiring photographers exceptional performance and greater photographic control through its professional-quality SCHENIDER-KREUZNACH VARIOGON 10X optical zoom lens, helping capture detail from afar and flattering portraits.

âAs with the entire line of EASYSHARE Z-Series cameras, the Z650 delivers more advanced control when needed and simplicity of operation for everyday situations,â said Carolyn Walsh, Product Sales Director Digital, Eastman Kodak Company. âAlthough the new Z650 has an impressive resolution, is also demystifies the conception that megapixels are the only standard of measurement when buying digital cameras. By adding advanced features like 10X optical zoom and a live histogram, Kodak has raised the bar by providing photographers with the tools to create high-quality photos, enhancing their overall digital photography experience.â

The EASYSHARE Z650 camera will be available worldwide beginning in February 2006 (£299.99 RRP.)

Other Innovative Features of the Z650 Camera

The EASYSHARE Z650 camera builds in a number of innovative features that photographers will appreciate, including:The exclusive KODAK Colour Science image processing chip that results in portraits with edge-to-edge sharpness and brightness, rich colour, accurate skin tones and highly accurate exposure;

Remarkable dynamic range, fine detail and delicate highlights
A large 2.0-inch, high-resolution indoor/outdoor LCD screen that allows previewing of shots or reviewing pictures stored in 32MB internal memory or on an optional SD/MMC card
A live histogram that enables photographers to see the exposure of their subjects before taking the shot
Automatic, aperture priority and shutter priority modes, plus 17 scene modes and 5 colour modes
A high-speed precision auto-focus system that offers fast click-to-capture times
First and last burst modes and flash compensation
On-camera editing features includes automatic red-eye reduction, cropping, blurry picture alert and auto picture rotation
5X advanced digital zoom delivers noticeably sharper pictures than regular digital zoom
The exclusive Share button to tag pictures for e-mailing, printing and saving to the on-camera digital photo album, computer, and online album as favourites
Making the EASYSHARE System Connection

Z-Series camera owners can quickly print KODAK 4 x 6-inch pictures with just one touch in as little as 60 seconds, using the new KODAK EASYSHARE Printer Dock Plus Series 3. The Series 3 printer docks are the first to support the new IMAGELINK print system, working with new EASYSHARE cameras and other manufacturersâ compatible cameras.

The Printer Dock Series 3 also transfers pictures to a connected computer, and recharges and reconditions the camerasâ batteries. Pictures made from EASYSHARE printer docks are vibrant, borderless, waterproof, and will last a lifetime, under typical photo album display conditions.

The line of EASYSHARE printer docks makes printing truly one-touch simple, and does not require people to connect a cable between camera and printer. Their convenience, print speed, ease-of-use and phenomenal picture quality have resulted in overwhelming demand from picture takers worldwide, with the line having achieved the number one market position in the United States, Australia and the United Kingdom, according to The NPD Group and GfK.

The Z-Series cameras include new KODAK EASYSHARE software version 5.2 for WINDOWS and MACINTOSH systems, providing effortless digital picture organisation, editing, sharing and printing. The exclusive One Touch to Better Pictures feature takes advantage of proprietary colour technologies developed by Kodak to help users get vibrant, true-to-life prints from inkjet printers. Version 5.2, which is available for free download from www.kodak.com, also makes sharing your favourite pictures as simple as possible, automatically placing them in albums on your camera, on your computer, and in your online KODAK EASYSHARE Gallery albums.

The KODAK EASYSHARE digital photography system consists of cameras, snapshot printers, services, docks, software, inkjet and thermal photo papers, and accessories, making taking, organising, sharing, and printing high quality digital pictures effortless.

What is a good, cheap digital camera?

Hi, I need to get a new camera and need to keep it as cheap as possible. I know some of you may say "yuck", but I had a Kodak Easyshare (can't remember which #). It only cost like $97 and I really liked it in general. It really took nice pics, but eventually, the door where the batteries go busted right in half and fell off. Kinda cheap junk!

Anyhow, I need to know what to look for and maybe some personal experience with specific cameras. I need it to be as cheap as possible (FOR SURE under $200, preferably less!) I just need something to take nice snapshots, as I don't print out a lot of them and if I do, I rarely make them extra big, so the quality of larger prints is not a major issue.

Also, I don't have a lot of time until I need it, so online resources may be interesting, but I would prefer if anyone could tell me where to GO get one, so I don't have to wait for it to come in the mail.

Thanks!

Answer
Shop in a Best Buy, Circuit City, Staples or an actual local camera store, if you don't want to order a camera and wait. This is a good idea anyhow, so you can see if the thing fits right in your ownhands.

Here's my standard "Best Cheap Camera" answer...

Some of our best answerers always recommends the Fujifilm FinePix F20 camera as the best-for-less choice. I have to say that I like the sample images at Steve's site (below). If Morey000 or SpaceCowboy show up after me and make this recommendation, choose them as the best answer, because I'm just passing along their suggestion. I have no personal experience with this camera.

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs/Fujifilm/fuji_finepixf20.asp

My brother has the A540 and my mother-in-law has the A530 - on my recommendation - and neither one has stopped speaking to me yet. Based on this and experience with other Canon Powershot cameras, I am now recommending the A550 as a nice and relatively inexpensive camera. The A550 has more pixels than the A540, but offers less user control.

The A540 has been discontinued, but I've seen it for $140 in some stores like WalMart and Target.

The A550 costs $160 at B&H and, of course, you'll need a memory card.

Consumer Reports from May 2007 has a short article on digital cameras and they recommend 10 different point and shoot cameras in the following order within groups according to camera design:

**COMPACTS**
Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX2 (Overall score 75) [$410]
Kodak EasyShare C875 (Overall score 73) [$165] - Rated better for shutter lag
Nikon Coolpix P4 (Overall score 65)

**ADVANCED COMPACTS ("Near SLR")**
Fujifilm Finepix S6000fd (Overall score 77) [$300] - Rated better for shutter lag
Fujifilm Finepix E900 (Overall score 73) [$250]

Which digital camera would you suggest buying?

I'm looking to spend less than $150, but will go up to $200 if necessary. I'm just looking for the best camera I can get for a low price. Which digital camera would you suggest and why?
Thanks! :)
Answers are great so far! Just a couple more details on what I'm looking for : small, easy to carry, used mostly to take pictures of outings (more people than scenary, but probably that too). Thanks! :)

Should I get a waterproof camera?

waterproof camera 5 meters on Kodak Play Sport ZX3 Video Camera Purple Waterproof to 3 Meters | eBay

Q. I am stuck on what to get.
I want a camera that takes good quality photos.
I live right next t the beach, g to the pool a lot and am wondering if I should get a waterproof camera.
Should I get one?
Thanks soooo much in advance!

Answer
if you are fond of taking your pictures and hobbies include the beach and pool a waterproof camera is great! although there are concerns about cameras leaking you can get cameras which have an extra lens screen which will minimize the chance of water getting in and now-a-days battery covers will have a rubber seal so a tiny hair or fibre shouldn't create a leakage. the higher the depth of water resistance the less likely it is for water to get in, the advised depth is 5m because it is rather hard to swim this deep but it ensures this camera would have good protection against water and pressure. its there in your hand for any picture. pictures can speak really well to describe yourself which hobbies fall into so enjoying aquatic activities would be even better with a waterproof camera. just imagine those stunning shots you could get from in the pool of your and your friends! especially with sunlight beams pouring into the pool and through onto the pool floor! having a waterproof camera will put no limits to the pictures you can take. good quality pictures can be taken from a camera as simple as an 8MP which is why there a wide range of possibilities to choose from. if your looking for one that you want to use out of water aswell there are quite a few you could get the best one advised to me was the sony TX10, i got this for christmas and could not be happier it has a 16.2MP and a 4X optical zoom. it is water resistant guaranteed up to 5m and also shockproof to 1.5 m it has a sweep power mode and captures stunning moments with a fast shutter! this one is a little pricey though at around £250 so if you still want great quality but at a lower price i would go for the samsung wp10 this is 12.2 megapixel which is still great and has an internal 5x zoom. it is a compact camera and comes in a wide range of colours including: light turquoise, red, yellow and black unfortunately it is only up to 3 meters water resistant and does not have any shock proof abilities. this one comes in on the market at around £125
hope this helps a bit! :)

What Are Some Recommendations For The Best Portable Video Cameras?

mrfrudd200

I would like to get some recommendations of the best portable and less expensive video/audio recorders for mainly making online type videos and tutorials. The camera could use SD cards for data storage, USB jump drives, etc. Also the audio quality is very important, so the ability to use an external microphone that can be plugged into the camera's audio port would be a plus.

There are so many products on the market now, it is a bit overwhelming. Thanks for any help and links.

Answer
Get the Kodak PlaySport Zx3, it's a Consumer Reports recommended choice. Good quality pic, easy on the checking account, cute to look at, different colors available, perfect for YT videos.

Highs
Good HD pocket camcorder with very good video pic quality, waterproof to 1 meter, display quality and user-friendly; good pic in low light, pic stable, versatile and works like a digicam too (5 Mpixel). Won't vaporize your checking account. Different colors.

Lows
Average audio and battery life.

If you have around 500$ to spend, the Sony HDR-CX110 is a good mid-end that does a good job, is a Consumer Reports' "BEST BUY".

actually it's my parents who are anxious to give him a present.we can't go with the doctor's utilities such as stethoscope etc because he already has those. He's also quite into photography, but he like to keep his shoots as file rather than print them. We want to give him something personal OR useful :)
(oh, please forget about giving him any camera things. you know how expensive they can be :p)

Answer
It's hard to know what would be best as a gift for him without knowing what he already has. Some things that are generally useful in professional life would be nice pens if he will be having an office practice or a nice bag for carrying his utensils if he will be having a practice in which he visits the animals. If he plans on having an office some other nice things might be books about animals for his clients to read while they wait. If he likes to read books by James Herriot, who was a veterinarian, are always quite nice. If he's already read those there are many interesting books about the relationship between people and certain animals that he might like. Other items such as a business card holder or a frame for his diploma would also be thoughtful. If he is going to practice in an office a set of name-embroidered surgical scrubs could be nice. If he will be outside a lot to see his patients a nice waterproof coat or some boots could also be helpful...I'm really stretching here, but hopefully my brainstorm will get you thinking about things he might like.

Need reviews for coleman waterproof digital cameras?

They sell a pretty cheap underwater camera for around 80 bucks. Ive never even known that coleman makes cameras in general, so im curious if anyone knows how they are. Its a 12 megapixel camera with only 640x480 video. 33 ft waterproof and 3.2ft shockproof. Looking for reviews or if anyone knows about coleman cameras in general.
One of my main worries is also shutter lag time.

Answer
They are on the do not buy list for amazon, a lot of returns for leaking camaras.

Best POV camera for a month long trip to Alaska?

waterproof camera enclosure image

hunter

First things first battery life is important I will not be traveling with a laptop or charging station its just me the camera and camping equipment, So battery life is important or at least low price extra batteries. Also i will be river rafting so could get wet and maybe even submerged for a few seconds. I was leaning towards a Contour HD for price small size and ease of use, just wish they had more mount options.

What do you recommend?

Answer
Have you considered the GoPro HD HERO line of POV cameras? While battery life (about 2.5 hrs) and cost of an extra battery (about $30 on Amazon) is comparable to the ContourHD, the GoPro HD HERO includes a waterproof enclosure that will protect your investment should it get submerged while rafting. There are also many mounting options available for GoPro cameras. Here is a comparison of the different GoPro HD HERO configurations available http://www.povcamera.net/which-gopro-hd-hero-is-right-for-you/

There are a few other POV camera options (http://www.povcamera.net/pov-camera-comparison/) but in my opinion, I would go with either the ContourHD or the GoPro HD HERO.

Enjoy your trip.

Waterproof camera limits?

question

I am going to buy a waterproof case for a camera. The underwater case states that it goes up to 10 ft. I am planning on going on a scuba diving trip. If I take the camera and go to 20ft or more, will the case leak or break? What happens when I pass the 10 ft limit?

Answer
The waterproof enclosure probably won't break but it might leak. If it is a flexible plastic case rather than a rigid one, it is also possible that the water may press on the case hard enough to push one or more of the buttons on your camera. The deeper you go, the more expensive your case is likely to get. Be prepared for some real sticker shock when you get down past 30 m (100 ft) or so, where the case is likely to exceed the cost of your camera body.

Answer

Good video camera for outdoorsy person?

Megan P

I'm really looking for a good video camera that can handle the outdoors. Waterproof is a must. Also, optical zoom is a must. And, it must be able to fit into a coat pocket. I don't want to lug around a big camera. I'm hiking, so weight is an issue too.

The one camera that has caught my attention is the Nikon AW100. Has some nice features, but hasn't gotten the best reviews. However, most of that was geared towards interface or for the pictures, not video. I wouldn't mind a point n shoot with video capabilities, but I would use the video function more than the picture stuff. I use a DSLR for my pictures.

Anyway, just weighing my options here. Anybody know of any video cameras that would be good to fit here?

I wouldn't like anything more expensive than the AW100. That is as high as I'll go. I'm not even sure if the AW100 is worth its price tag.

Answer
The Panasonic TS3 is cheaper than the AW100. It's TIPA's best rugged camera for 2011. And the HD video is the best compared to all other waterproof cameras in the market now.

Used to be as expensive as the AW100. But it's around $270 now

I know these are both different but are two I've been looking at. I'm a scuba diver and are looking for a good underwater camera on a budget. Most waterproof cameras can only go 10 feet or so. I'll need one that goes further. I figured a waterproof with housing would be the best choice. Good picture quality is a must!
Any suggestions please??

Answer
Neither - I would suggest a good quality point & shoot (like a Fuji or Canon) and add a housing to it - will be good down to depths or around 40m.

Plenty of choices;
http://www.camerasunderwater.co.uk/compact

Whatever you get, be sure to test it out in the pool first - press all the buttons & work the controls. If you are using a separate housing, be sure to seat & grease the O ring properly (the most common cause of housing failure).

hey I am thinking about buying the gopro hero3 black edition but I have a few questions?

Searra

soo I am totally new to the whole photography thing but I have wanted a awesome camera or years now and when I aw the hero3 black edition I fell in love.
I was hoping if anyone knew anything about it they could tell me. Good or bad I want to hear it. also if I actually decide to buy it what accessories will I need to make a photos and videos come out even better. I plan on using the camera for everything like when I go surfing, skateboarding, biking, mountain climbing, running, etc. I appreciate anyone that can help so thank you. :)

Answer
This is a POV (1st person point of view) specialty video camera, and while it is great at that, it is no good for anything else.

If you want dramatic video of action photography from the first person perspective, these cameras (Go Pro and it's competitors) are the ones to get - but if you want to use it for general photography, you will be very disappointed.

The camera is lacking in an adjustable lens, and it is always set to a very wide angle bordering on a fisheye.

If you can only buy just one camera, this might not be the best choice. As a second camera for specific POV video, then this would be great.

If you want a single camera that can take photos as well as video in almost as extreme of a condition, look for a waterproof ruggedized camera, such as the Nikon AW110, Canon D20, etc.

Here's what I am looking for: a very clear picture that I can record to a DVD, at least 2 hours of shooting, good sound quality. Here is what I don't care about: a significant zoom function, numerous manual controls, a fancy lcd screen, anything over 800 dollars. Thank you.

I have Pentax Optio ES80 waterproof camera. It got water in the battery pack last summer. I was wondering if there is any places in Philadelphia that can fix my camera.

Answer
generally in the throw away society we live in , unless the warranty terms allow a repair from faulty workmanship etc , this will be the only option, and a replacement.. water damage doesn't destroy the camera it is the corrosion from the calcium and minerals which knock the microchip components into uselessness, generally a repair joint will buy another product faulty and replace parts , but this in most first world countries is considered unreasonable labor for a relatively cheap electronic device .. i apologize most likely there are no services which will allow this to be repaired economically

What would be the best waterproof digital camera for me?

Margaret C

I definatly want a small point and shoot one, I dont want it to stand out above the water. I would like it to be no more than $250. I have been looking at the Olympus 1030 SW , the Pentax W60, and the Fujifilm Z33wp, out of those which would give me the least problems? Also, if you know of other good quality small waterproof cameras please let me know! THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Answer
Personally I would suggest Olympus 1050 SW.

Answer
Panasonic Lumix TS20 16.1 MP TOUGH Waterproof Digital Camera with 4x Optical Zoom is my 4th digital camera in 2 years. My $300 Nikon was damaged when daughters 5 year old friend dropped it, my $300 Canon stopped working on a Caribbean vacation due to high humidity (do not buy a Canon and use near salt water and heat), my new $300 Nikon died after an unexpected roll over in a kayak. Given that I was into digital cameras for close to $1,000 in just over a year I decided to go with a waterproof, drop resistant design and this $130 Lumix easily produces photos equal in quality to the Canon and Nikon's costing several hundred dollars more.

Any ideas for a rugged, waterproof camera??

Nicole N

I do a lot of snowboarding in the winter and hiking, kayaking, camping, etc in the summer. I have a digital camera now, but it's too delicate for me to take on the mountain or pull out when we're on the water and I'm looking for something that's more up to the challenge.

I saw the Minox DC6033 WP and while I think it's great...it's a little out of my price range (it's $300) for a camera that will be used only during my outings.

I'd prefer something not more than $200 if that's possible.

Thanks for the advice!

Answer
For that kind of photography, I still use my old Nikonos II 35mm purchased used in 1973. That thing has been "hammered" over the past 30 years and still works just fine.

Printers used to make announcements?

Q. Can anyone tell me exactly what type of printers are used printing Birth, Birthday, Anniversary and Wedding Announcements? I'm looking to start my own thing, but would like to have the right equipment. Would it be a laser printer or is it more advanced than a laser printer?

Answer
Dye-sublimation printers would be the ultimate solution, transferring colors from a sheet, at least with now discontinued alps printers, you had the option to print an authentic silver & gold metallic look. This technology has a pixel color range approaching a video monitor. Very popular for printing digital camera photos, there are larger format printers available.

From discontinued Alps MD review "Able to print in white (for colored stock) and metallics (silver, gold, metallic magenta and metallic cyan)"

Talk to your importer? about: http://focusdgt.en.ecplaza.net/15.asp
http://shfocusdgt.en.ecplaza.net/9.asp

2001 article: http://www.dyesub.org/articles/dyesubprinter.htm

It will take some searching to find other than the ubiquitous photo printer.

http://reviews.cnet.com/computer-printers/?filter=500172_103957_

A laser printer would give more permanent waterproof results than an inkjet, but probably no colors.

You might find "Sublimation Paper" for laser printers

My budget is 15000. I am not a photography expert. I want a good photo clarity even in evening, decent optical zoom. Which brands are better?
Thanks

Answer
Look , there are two type of cameras..! One is the digital compact camera, and other is the professional one, which we call DSLR camera..! In This range you will not get any DSLR camera..! Like in Nikon the DSLR starts at Rs25000..! Well among the compact cameras i would STRONGLY recommend the Nikon AW100..! This is the first in Nikon's new AW series of waterproof, shock-proof, cold-resistant compact digital cameras ! This is really amazing, you can shoot underwater, it can withstand temperature as low as - 10°C (14°F)..! And it costs around 16000..! On nikon website, it says its MRP is 16,950..! But thats MRP ..! If you go and check it out in market, you will get a decent discount..! Its image clarity is also amazing and it records 1080p Full HD video ! Well in case of brands Nikon and Canon are the BEST..! Among these which is better, that is difficult to say..! Everyone has their own choice.! I personally go for Nikon.! So i would recommend you to buy the NIkon AW100 ..! Here you can check it out on Nikon website " http://www.nikon.co.in/productitem.php?pid=1438-56d559b512 " ..! Hope you make a good choice..!

USEFUL TIPS

* Use a waist money belt for Passport, Travel Cheques and a little cash. (These are not too difficult to replace, and a thief will expect you to have a 'Money Belt' containing these items.)
* Use a leg money belt or other place for cash and credit cards.
* Email to yourself all your important numbers etc., including travelers cheque numbers. If you loose everything you will always be able to check you email for emergency information.
* When walking around a crowded town or market avoid using a daypack. (Thieves think they are full of goodies - camera, Walkman, sunglasses and money!)
* If possible use your own padlock on your hotel door.
* In your hotel room leave a little money that is easy to find and hide the rest very carefully. Thieves are normally in a great rush and will run once they find something.
* Never leave your hotel door open when you are not in your room, even for quick visits to the bathroom.
* When traveling by bus cover your pack with a rice sack or similar, so that it looks like local luggage.
* When inside the bus keep your daypack on your lap. At night cuddle your daypack!
* When getting off the bus for something take your daypack with you.
* Never put a daypack down in a bus or railway station.
* If you can at all afford it take a taxi from bus stations and airports. (Think of this as paying an insurance premium!)
* You are most vulnerable when you are on the move with all your belongings. Treat getting from the bus station to your hotel like a military operation. Know where you are going and how you will get there etc. Avoid wandering around or taking unnecessary diversions.
* If something
