Does anyone make a helmet video camera with hi-res and an external microphone jack?

Dave M

I'm looking for a "helmet" video camera to mount on my motorcycle bars.

I want one that's:
Waterproof
Hi-Res (640x480 +)
has EXTERNAL microphone capability
and is UNDER $300

Does this exist?
I can't find any under $300 with a mic jack that aren't total crap.

Answer
Do they make them? Yes.

At your stated budget? No.

So your choice is to lower your video quality requirement or increase your budget.

What is a good video camera to mount on a bicycle to take video of your ride?

The Oregon ATC3K seems to be okay - ie. rugged, relatively cheap, and waterproof - but some reviews I've read say it doesn't handle vibration very well leading to streaky video. Are there any alternatives that people could reccomend?

Answer
VholdR ContourHD. it takes really good video for the price, vibration isn't as big of a problem as it is with oregon sci's. And you can twist the lens to get your shot level no matter how you mount it.

I've read a lot of reviews for waterproof cameras under $300 and most shutter lag is mostly the complaint. Does anyone have one that has low shutter lag? My budget is $250-$300 and it would have to be waterproof.

Answer
Canon D10 or Panasonic TS1 are 2 good waterproof camera that I would recommend. Canon D10 waterproof to 33 feet while TS1 waterproof at 10feet but TS1 can record HD video

I am looking for a good camera for indoor pictures. I have 3 little kids and take a million shots indoors, but the little $100 camera I have doesn't take decent pictures. I've looked into it a bit and have found a few with good reviews and decent picture quality. The few I've looked into:

Olympus TG-1iHS 12 MP Waterproof Digital Camera with 4x Optical Zoom
Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX30V 18.2 MP Exmor R CMOS Digital Camera with 20x Optical Zoom and 3.0-inch LCD (Black) (2012 Model)
Nikon COOLPIX P310 16.1 MP CMOS Digital Camera with 4.2x Zoom NIKKOR Glass Lens and Full HD 1080p Video
Nikon COOLPIX L810 16.1 MP Digital Camera with 26x Zoom NIKKOR ED Glass Lens and 3-inch LCD (Red)
Fujifilm XF1/Blk 12MP Digital Camera with 3-Inch LCD (Black)
Olympus XZ-1 10 MP Digital Camera with f1.8 Lens and 3-Inch OLED Monitor (Black)
Canon PowerShot SX260 HS 12.1 MP CMOS Digital Camera with 20x Image Stabilized Zoom 25mm Wide-Angle Lens and 1080p Full-HD Video (Black)
Panasonic DMC-FZ150K 12.1 MP Digital Camera with CMOS Sensor and 24x Optical Zoom (Black)
Nikon COOLPIX P510 16.1 MP CMOS Digital Camera with 42x Zoom NIKKOR ED Glass Lens and GPS Record Location (Black)

I was wondering if anyone had one of these or a decent knowledge of them and could advise me on which would be best for what I'm looking for. Or another suggestion of a camera that takes good indoor pictures. I work a lot in low light and with fast kids. I'm not expecting a miracle - point and shoot cameras can only do so much, but... Any help would be appreciated!

Answer
None of the above.

http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/the-best-compact-camera-for-less-than-450-is-the-panasonic-lx7/

I have the LX3 and I love it. I also have an older and current generation dSLR and a bunch of high quality lenses. If you are mainly shooting the kids indoors, you want to have a fast lens (that relates to aperture, not autofocus) and you want something that is meant for wide to slight zooms, so you don't need the 20x zooms. Also, with most of these cameras, the small sensor size means that chasing megapixels is fool's gold. Plus, how big are you going to print something?

The Panasonic has a great lens, lets you work in lower light than most of the competitors, and takes great photos. It is pretty much the same camera as the D-LUX line which is easily twice as expensive, with a little different case design and some slight changes to the software.

Why does my camera make a croaking sound when I video?

waterproof cameras best 2012 on Top Rugged Camera for Creative Control Panasonic TS4
waterproof cameras best 2012 image

IPad

The camera itself doesn't, I can't here it, but my camera can.
It's a Late 2012 White Nikon CoolPix S30 WaterProof.
I video a lot and I want it to stop.

Answer
Probably it is picking up the sound of autofocus. AF in video mode is a bad idea. Best if you focus at the start of the video segment and then don't re-focus while videoing. Then just cut out the short segment of AF noise when you have finished.

That's why you should use a proper camcorder for video work. Stills cameras are just not designed for good video sound or AF in video.

What's a good point and shoot camera?

Pinto Bean

I want a really good point and shoot camera that's at least 14 MP or higher and that has a good zoom. I have had 2 Sony Cyber-Shot cameras. I had the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-WX9 but lost it this past summer & I now have the Sony Cyber-Shot TX66. The problem is that when I look at the photos full screen on my laptop or zoom on them on my camera, the photos look like a painting -.-
I was wondering if Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Samsung, or Panasonic have any good cameras?
I also want to get a camera that's freeze proof, waterproof, and shock proof...
or is those NEX type cameras better? or the Nikon1 J1/V2?
I just want a good HD camera that takes very good high quality photos along with video recording of 1080p

Answer
I would suggest Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX20 16.2 MP, 4x Optical Zoom and 3.0-inch LCD (2012 Model), Certified waterproof, dustproof, and shockproof, Full HD 1080/60i with dual record of stills and movies. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006K5533I/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B006K5533I&linkCode=as2&tag=a882-20

I am going on my honeymoon in a few days and my husband and I are looking for a nice camera to use for underwater activities, such as snorkeling. Our price range is max $200. I've seen a few but I do not know much about cameras. Obviously the best of the best are too expensive. We are just looking for a basic underwater camera that takes clear pictures. Any ideas?

Answer
The Nikon Coolpix AW100 would be my recommendation. For a compact camera it has a pretty fast focus speed.

However, you will have to buy a refurbished one to stay within your budget.

I would not hesitate to buy a refurbished camera. They are checked out by the factory and are basically new.

What camera is efficient both underwater and out of water? tough camera or housing?

Bonnie Bul

I am looking to buy a camera for preferably under 650USD. I want to use it for snorkeling and shallow diving, but also have it to use as a regular camera that takes good photos-maybe with the option of manual exposure. Is it better to buy an underwater camera like Olympus Tough or Panasonic Lumix DMC-FT3, or to buy a decent camera and get underwater housing for it? What cameras would you suggest?

Answer
An underwater housing is going to have a depth advantage to a Tough camera. But having that, here is my story.

I had a FantaSea housing (about $100) for my Nikon S200 - a run of the mill $150 camera. So the total cost was about equivalent to a tough camera.

The housing had a 100meter depth, far more than I needed as I never scuba - only snorkel. My wife and I go on cruises in the Caribbean, so having something waterproof is desirable.

But the housing was a bit large and bulky. It was always a pain. So for that reason, we never took the camera/housing with us unless we were going snorkeling for sure.

Then we were in the Bahamas one day. I took my underwater camera, and my wife's Nikon S560 to the beach. I was taking photos with the Nikon S560 as it is easier to use on-shore than the underwater camera. While I could have removed the camera from the underwater housing to do this, it was just easier to use a second camera.

But I then put my wife's camera in the front pocket of my swim trunks and forgot about it... until after I finished snorkeling.

Yep - scratch one camera.

We replaced that camera with a Nikon S570.

Then about 6 months later, on another cruise. Same swim trunks, we were at the pool on the ship, and yep, scratch camera #2 after I went into the pool.

Then we finally got wise, and I bought an Olympus Tough 8010. Since then I have not killed any more cameras.

However, compared to the underwater housing:

The Olympus is rated for 10Meters, the underwater housing 100Meters.
You have to rinse the Olympus off after getting it wet - you don't have to with the housing.
The Olympus is more convenient as the underwater housing is bulky.
The photo quality is about the same with the Olympus as the camera that went into the housing.
The Olympus is NOT inconvenient to use on land.

I ended up selling the housing as I didn't use it after buying the Olympus.

So long story short, unless you have a depth requirement of 100Meters, a Tough is a good choice.

Easy answer! Olympus 1030SW. Does everything you want PLUS it is waterproof to 30 feet, shockproof to 6 feet, heat and cold tolerant, and withstands 220 lbs of direct force (I can stand on it holding 50 lbs). Up to 29 minutes of 30fps video. Put a silicon skin on it and you can go anywhere and shoot anything.......just wash it off when done!! I got mine at Abes of Maine, now they sell for about $285. Check OlympusUSA.com for specs. It is a great camera that I use as a backup for my pro gear.... Oly of course!!

What Do You Think About The Begining of This Story?

waterproof cameras top ten on Waterproof Camera Reviews for Surfers and Athletes - Compared
waterproof cameras top ten image

I was wondering what you thought of this story so far, please be honest, thanks!
The computer made a soft hum as Blaire typed away at the black keys. Today was Kin, so she had to send Kinmil to all of her friends. Her eyelids slowly drooped over her opaque eyes, begging for sleep; but she knew better than to listen to them. With effort, she opened her eyes back up, asking herself if she had activated it. She waited for a moment then heard the dreaded voice coming from the silver speaker above her, answering her question.
âActivation for H2Oâ the metal voice chimed as she tried to block herself with her lunch tray, but it was too late. The icy blow of water smacked her right in the face, numbing her cheeks momentarily. Finally it came to a cease and she looked to see what damage had been done. Her books were fine, the waterproof covers she bought at break time protected them from getting drenched in the water. Her metal table now had a small puddle on it, but that could be easily wiped away. She inspected her computer for a drop of water, grateful not to find any. With a sigh of relief, she quickly finished off her mils and pressed a silver button.
âPermission for camera to be turned off while I sleep?â she spoke into the speaker adjacent to the one on the ceiling . She waited for a moment, hopeful that her little ânapâ wouldnât have more severe consequences besides the spray of water.
âPermission not granted, camera will be off for ten minutes.â the metal voice chimed and she heard a quick bing, indicating the timer had started and camera was off. Quickly she tore off her clothes, then entered 345 into the glowing number pad next to the huge silver doors. They slowly slid open and she walked into the white bathroom. She turned the silver knob waiting for a familiar gurgle. At last she heard it, and the water gushed out into the tub. Blaire pushed down the silver knob and the gushing stopped, now the water sprayed from the colorless shower head. Briskly washed, then pulled the knob out, stopping the flow.
âFive minutes remaining.â Blaire heard from the speaker. She pulled her night clothes on in a hurry, then inspected herself in the mirror, looking for imperfections. She had none, her cream colored skin was flawless. Blaire grabbed a brush on top of the counter and briskly ran it through her long, dark honey hair. She cleaned up the room, then entered 543 into the glowing number pad beside her, opening the doors. Now that she was out of the steamy room, the cold air hit her unexpectedly; now reminding her that she forgot to turn the heater on. She immediately bolted under the dark blue comforter on her bed. Blaire let the warmth surround her as she fell into a dreamless sleep as she heard a bing, letting her know the camera was back on and the light was turned off.

Answer
I'm liking this a lot. The only thing I have to say is that towards the end, it gets a bit tiring reading "Blaire" or "she" - maybe you could link the sentences so you don't have to write the words too much. I don't think that is much criticism though, reading "she" a few times isn't so bad. ;)

I like how it is (to me, at least) mysterious as I don't know where exactly she is or what is going on, which makes an intriguing story. A continuation would be nice! Oh and and and the description is really good.

Great work. =D

What should i put in my backpack?

Lance

Ive decided to take my backpack w/ me where ever i go. So far i have my wallet, my phone, a picture of me an my little brother on my birthday, a Jake from Adventure Time plush doll my friend got me for my birthday (which fits in this one spot perfectly and when my friend saw it she thought it was cute and said "its like your own adventure pack!"), and my Beats by Dre. What else should/could i put in there?

Answer
Go to a novelty store or a toyshop and buy a very small model of a kitchen sink. Then you can carry a kitchen sink with you as well.
Some decent headphones would be useful, like Sennheiser, Grado, Beyer Dynamic or AKG, and a sound system good enough to do them justice..
Nachamichi and Uher do very fine broadcast quality portable recorders and tape players at around $2000 that would suit nicely, and Uher also makes a very a high quality portable radio tuner.
Broadcast quality digital recorders are also worth carrying, eg the excellent model from Diasonic for only $140 or the better PMD660 from Marantz for $500, which is used by many TV and radio reporters.
A ten inch parabolic reflector with a Shure or Sennheiser or Grado high sensitivity unidirectional microphone will let make high quality birdsong recordings with it, or the sound of a snail eating lettuce.
Shoe polish can be useful, and a full set of brushes and a polishing cloth.
A large first aid kit, full navigational equipment so you don't get lost, and a satellite phone to make calls from areas with no normal phone signal and linked to a notebook computer for satellite internet access, a super-bright LED flashlight, a megaphone and a length of climbing rope are useful additions to an adventure pack, and an ice axe in winter or on high mountains.
Skis for fast travel over snow, a folding bicycle and a motorized skateboard for town use will help with travel requirements.
A folding chair and table, a water bottle, a teapot and coffee pot, a mug and spoon, a plate and bowl, eating irons, a kitchen knife and a camp stove, some pots and a selection of foods and beverages will help to reduce hunger and thirst in areas without normal shopping facilities.
Spare clothes, washing kit, a mirror, a solar powered electric toothbrush, a hair brush and comb and a clothes brush will be of great use in maintaining appearances on wild adventures.
A digital camera and a video camera with a selection of lenses and attachments will aid in recording the experience, as will a notebook and pens and a painting set.
Waterproofs may be carried on top of the pack for quick access and a tent and sleeping bag may be fastened below it on straps to save space inside the pack.
To save carrying such a load a fully trained Boy Scout may be hired, who will carry it all in his pockets and be fully prepared for at least a few of life's little adventures.

Answer
Here's my standard "Best Cheap Camera" answer...

Some of our best answerers always recommends the Fujifilm FinePix F20 camera as the best-for-less choice. I have to say that I like the sample images at Steve's site (below). If Morey000 or SpaceCowboy show up after me and make this recommendation, choose them as the best answer, because I'm just passing along their suggestion. I have no personal experience with this camera. I see it at B&H Photo (available through Yahoo! Shopping) for $150; $190 with a 1 GB Sandisk memory card.

http://www.steves-digicams.com/2007_reviews/fuji_f20.html
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs/Fujifilm/fuji_finepixf20.asp

My brother has the A540 and my mother-in-law has the A530 - on my recommendation - and neither one has stopped speaking to me yet. Based on this and experience with other Canon Powershot cameras, I am now recommending the A550 as a nice and relatively inexpensive camera.

Canon just introduced the A550, which has more pixels, but offers less user control. I'd be happy with the A540, but the A550 is probably also worth considering, especially since the A540 has been discontinued. I've seen it for $140 in some stores like WalMart and Target.

The A550 costs $160 at B&H and, of course, you'll need a memory card.

Steve's reviews updates the "Best Camera" list periodically:

waterproof cameras online image
Q. I also need it to shoot in HD and be 150$ or less. Waterproof, shockproof, and about the size of a flip cam

Answer
If you buy cheaply you will only end up having to replace the cheap rubbish. I made that mistake! only spent $120 and ended up throwing it away and starting again. Worth spending a little more and getting a great camera that will last. For snowboarding try GoPro they are amazing, you can get the non HD model even cheaper than HD and still get really incredible footage...unless you plan on showing your footage at the local cinema you really dont need HD anyway. The only down side is the mounts don't totally take all the shock out of the footage and you have to keep changing mounts, if you want your friends to have a go takes valuable slope time. Another option for steady shots and hands free filming try www.immortal.co.uk. They have sunnies with a video camera and mic built in (the mic doesn't really work well when flying down the slope but once stationary or away from wind is exceptionally good considering the size. www.immortal.co.uk have the stockist listed and you can buy online. I watched the Gadget Show review and they got really high rating! Good thing about the glasses is you can really quickly pass them around your friends without having to change helmet attachments. We had great fun with them our last trip! Hope that helps. BTW if you want to ignore my first suggestion try ebay! They have really cheap cameras (which I ended up throwing away).

Youtube video camera for best quality videos?

Stephanie

I am going to start making youtube videos and wanted to know what was the best video camera to invest in. I keep seeing that everyone is suggesting the flip video cameras, is that really a good video camera? I want the camera to be under $500. Im looking for best quality video camera. Thank you!

Answer
I suggest the Kodak PlaySport Zx3.

The Kodak Play Sport Zx3 is easy to use, has a very good display, and takes very good video in normal light and good video in low light. It's waterproof to a depth of 10 feet and can shoot good 5-megapixel stills. However, it only has fair audio quality. Its on-board software makes basic editing and sharing videos online very easy to do.

Highs
A good HD pocket camcorder with very good video picture quality, display quality and ease of use; good low-light picture quality, image stabilizer, versatility and still camera. Moderately priced model.

Lows
Fair audio quality and battery life.

Answer
The new waterproof Sanyo Xacti E2 camcorder captures stunning digital video and beautiful 8-megapixel photos -- on land and even underwater!

Practically four cameras in one, the Xacti E2 allows you to shoot both photos and video at a park, birthday party, or virtually anywhere else on dry land. And, when the opportunity presents itself, you can also shoot both photos and video while snorkeling or while just playing around in a swimming pool. This powerful little camcorder easily records both full 640x480 resolution video at 60 fields-per-second and high-resolution 8-megapixel digital still images, all of which are handily stored to a standard SD or SDHC flash memory card

I have a camcorder and i want to make a video of snowboarding, but i don't want to get it wet. Is there a way I can make it waterproof?

Answer
There's a very easy way to make your own DIY waterproof camera cover. All you have to do is cover your lens and maybe your flash/flashlight (if you have it) in plastic wrap and douse your camera in liquid latex. This is very safe and won't hurt the camera at all. Candle wax is a good substitute.

what is a good underwater HD video camera that is $200 or below?

austen

The camera has to be able to go down to deep depths. The camera should be preferably a divers underwater video camera.

Answer
Consumer level HD camcorders have 3 problems. 1) Blurry, fuzzy, out of focus areas closely around people in videos taken by consumer level HD camcorders. 2) Any movement, even a wave or lifting an arm, while in front of a recording consumer level HD camcorder, results in screen ghosts and artifacts being left on the video track, following the movement. Makes for bad video, sports videos are unwatchable. 3) Mandatory maximum record times - 1 hour, 30 minutes, 8 minutes, 3 minutes â four different times advertised as maximum record time for some consumer level HD camcorders. No event I have ever been to is that short. Either take multiple camcorders or pack up with out getting the end of the event on video.

With a MiniDV tape camcorder, record 60 or 90 minutes ( camcorder settings), 90 seconds or less to change a tape and record for 60 or 90 more and repeat till you run out of tapes.

You can get a Canon ZR960 for $250. It is a MiniDV tape camcorder, has a Mic jack. You need a firewire (IEEE1394) card ($25 to 30) for the computer and a firewire cable (less than 10) to be able to transfer video to your computer. To say this is not HD, think about this. It would cost in excess of $3500 to get a HD camcorder that could equal the video Quality of a $250 Canon MiniDV tape camcorder.

Will

Hi, i'm looking for a £100-£200 HD camcorder, either a flip style with the USB arm attached or a pistol grip style. I am looking to sell my Kodak Zi8 because want something newer. I'm currently contemplating the Sanyo Xacti VPC CG100. Wondering if anyone knows any better ones within the budget. (Must be 1080p by the way)

Thank You

Answer
I think you should go with the kodak zx3 (playsport)
its 1080p/30fps but with any camera in your pricerange you should be more concerned about framerate, It also records at 720p/60fps (which is waaay better!)
and sometimes you can find it at superstore and such for $120 or so, i also did i mention its waterproof for up to 10 feet?

PS theres also the zx5 (the newer version) but there are some things better in the zx3 ill list some differences

Zx3-bigger lens better menu (unadvertised shockproof/dustproof) electronic image stabilizer (EIS)
Zx5-Macro mode (extreme closeups) cheesy video filters that wreck you video (80's style, ect) dustproof/shockproof Digital image stabilizer (DIS

Q. It seems silly to get a camera for both diving and personal use, though I've never purchased a diving camera, beyond the 100 feet non-digital throwaways.
If so, any recs for what's now a good priced digital diving camera? I'm hoping to get something less than $300 for the next time I go diving.

Answer
For that price I would recommend 2 options. If you want a 100 ft safe camera, there sealife mini reef is good. It is a unibody ruggedized waterproof camera. And is pretty standard gear around here. Another option is finding an auction for an olympus housing, you can usually find one for under 200. and a camera for under 100. The benefit here is that you can usually find an optical zoom. The mini is only a digital. If you are willing to go a little more (350) the sealife 800 is getting pretty good reviews all around.

good luck

It cant be too expensive. Maximum 200 dollars. I live in Canada. I need it to be really good underwater but I am not to worried for out of water because I have one for that already. Thank you so much =) Also what stores can I find one at ?

Answer
Around $300 in Canada you can get an Olympus compact digital which is waterproof to around 10 feet. Check future shop/best buy canada websites. I don't know of any that you can get under $200. Save the money and don't buy one. You can buy a nice camera for $300 Canadian.

What would be a good cheap digital camera for a teenager's christmas present?

The one I bought last year had terrible picture quality.

Answer
For an alternatives to the Canon SD1200 that everyone here seems to love, check out the Fuji F70 or F72. Fuji is always forgotten in the consumer's mind, but their EXR system produced fantastic images, and has won several awards lately.

Other considerations:

1. You get what you pay for. A $100 camera will likely not take great pictures, especially in low light

2. Look at the size of the lens. A bigger lens will let in more light. (response to a later comment: I am not talking about aperture. I am simply stating that a tiny little lens is not going to let much light in, and that can definitely contribute to lots of noise in your images. This can be compounded by the tiny little sensors in point and shoot cameras)

3. Warranty. Teens can be hard on cameras. While no warranty will cover dropped cameras or water damage, most cover wear an tear. Here in Canada Nikon and Fuji have a two year warranty, might be the same in the U.S.

4. If your child is extra hard on their possessions, consider investing in a "tough" camera. An extra 50 dollars now for shock and waterproofing may save you from replacing the camera next Christmas

Does it really matter what kind of memory card you get for a dslr camera?

waterproof camera canon 7d on Best Underwater Lenses|Underwater Photography Guide
waterproof camera canon 7d image

nick

Answer
In many cases, yes.

The most obvious is card speed. If you have a camera with a lot of megapixels and a high frame rate, the speed of your card definitely matters. For instance on a Canon 7D, it is creating 20MB files at a frame rate of 6FPS. That means that 120MB of data is getting written to the card every second. (It is actually a little more complicated than that because of the internal memory buffer.)

Some cards might only be 100X (20MB/s.) Those cards will reduce the amount of images that a camera like the 7D can shoot in burst mode. However a 900X card can record at 135MB/s which is slightly faster than the camera's data capture ability. In that case only the camera's internal memory buffer will limit the max number of images per burst.

Of course if you are shooting JPEG, or on a camera with a smaller sensor, the memory card speed is not going to be much of an issue. For example, if you shoot 8MB JPEG files at 5fps, the data recording speed is only 40MB/s. Most cards on the market will have no trouble at those speeds.

There are other things to consider too. High end cards will have better construction materials like waterproof/shockproof housings, better extreme temperature stability, and corrosion free gold contacts.

I am looking to get a camera for hunting + videoing the kids play sports, I want one that I can video tape, take pictures ( also pictures where I can put it on a timer and it takes the automatically for when I'm alone and I get something or for family pictures), waterproof, something that take clear shots/videos. And something that isn't to expensive but still good, I checked out cameras on future shop+best buy and the categories are like compact, dslrs and bunch of other ones but I got no clue which ones I should be looking at? Please help me?

Answer
Check out the canon 550D, it does most of that but its not waterproof. If you need weather sealing go with the 7D, but thats expensive. The 550D can hold EF and EF-S lenses so you can switch to short/long distance lenses so you can take family photos and sports photography

Whats a good theme idea for a pool party?

Hello. Im 15 and im throwing a pool party. Im really into fashion and things, but i was thinking of a Hawaiian theme. The only thing is most hawaiian themes are really tacks. I want something new and fun(: Any good ideas? It will be a guy girl party at a clubhouse (with a pool).

Answer
Before throwing a pool party, it is important to decide whether or not the party itself will be themed. If visiting a local pool or water park is a unique occurrence, no extraordinary theme may be necessary. On the other hand, if splashing in the backyard pool is common, a theme can turn it into something exciting.

Popular pool party themes include:

Caribbean magic, with appropriate music and snacks
Luaus with leis and other Hawaiian décor
Cruise ship themes with life preservers and passport party invitations
Survivor themes with team buffs, grass shelters and competitive challenges
Waterpark themes when the party is actually at a local waterpark, complete with slides, wave pools, and other diversions
The key to a great teen party theme, however, is to remember not to overdo it. Many teens would prefer an understated theme that hints at coordination instead of an outrageous theme that may backfire
Food
Activities: Coordinated party games are not usually necessary for teen parties, but having fun pool activities available will encourage teens to entertain themselves. Beach balls and volleyballs are popular choices, as are different floating pool mats and lounges, diving sticks, and water guns. Appropriate calypso, steel drum, and beach-oriented party music (the Beach Boys are a great choice) can add even more fun and may inspire

Accessories: Extra towels, including small towels for hair
Sunglasses or visors
Sunscreen, preferably a quick spray-on formula
Swim goggles or masks
Tanning lotion
Adequate shade from trees, umbrellas, or gazebos
Plastic bags or a safe, dry place to store clothes and other non-pool gear
Waterproof cameras to capture every splash
While most teens will bring their own supplies, having extra on hand will ensure that everyone can have a great time even if they forgot something essential. It is also advisable to have an extra swimsuit or two available if necessary.

So far i found the GoPro Cam, but i couldn't find any recommendations for underwater filming.

Thank You.

Another option is the Contour. I rent these to people for kayaking and rafting. The waterproof case is good up to 10 meters deep. That's good for snorkeling, but it is pretty shallow for scuba diving. There is another waterproof case for it that can go 100's of feet deep but that case costs around $400.

The Contour cameras shoot in HD and they cost a little less than the GoPro.

I'll include a clip of the camera while diving. Also a link to the waterproof cases. And a link to my site where I rent the cameras.

What is the best type of digital camera from $100-300?

Q. Well, I want a digital camera with...
1. Good quality
2. An affordable price from 100-300
3. A decent zoom
4. Has to be digital
5. Can shoot videos

PLEASE give me the links to where you buy it online, or the name and company:]

Answer

I want a new digital camera for Christmas, and I'm not sure what kind to ask for. Got any ideas?

Answer
It depends on the kind of photography you want to be doing and your budget.

My suggestions are as follows:

Digital compact camera - taking snapshots
Olympus SW series (waterproof, durable, small, image stabilized)
http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/cpg_digital_sw.asp

Mid-size camera - high image quality, more versatile, maybe take some artistic shots
Canon PowerShot SX110IS or G10
http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ProductCatIndexAct&fcategoryid=113

Entry-Level SLR - near professional results, huge, interchangeable lenses - budget over $1000 CAD ($800 USD)
Canon Rebel XTi w kit lens
Canon Rebel XSi w kit lens
Nikon D40 w kit lens

I personally have a Rebel XSi and Canon Elph SD300 (old compact)
My brothers have a Rebel XT, Rebel XTi, and Olympus SW 850 between them. All have been great.

I have owned Sony Cybershot before and it was far inferior to the products listed above.

When you hear about a camera, google or yahoo the name and the word "review"

My digital camera got wet

Sarahbelle

I have an Olympus Stylus 850 sw (a waterproof camera) refurb that I recently Purchased off of Ebay.com.

I had it at the pool the other day in the wave pool and later i noticed the screen was fogged over and it was wet inside the battery compartment (I think my friend may have opened it without thinking when she had the camera and gotten the inside wet) . The camera is still working but the lens is fogged over on the inside and so any pictures taken are VERY difficult to see. How can I get this to dry out? Would putting it in a room with a humidifier help the drying process?

Thanks so much in advance!!

Answer
Do not do what some of the other people above suggested. There are several gaskets installed around the camera to keep water out. Having an unauthorized repair shop take the camera apart is not a good idea.

Take out the battery and the memory card and try the compartment the best you can with a napkin or towel. Keep the door open and let the parts dry for a few days.

Using a humidifier isn't such a good idea. A dehumidifer might help but it would have to be used in tight quarters with the camera. Keep the doors and panels on the camera open -- the camera is sealed otherwise.
