Do I need to buy underwater housing for my camera?

So I have this camera, Canon PowerShot D10 12.1 MP Waterproof Digital Camera with 3x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.5-inch LCD. It says its waterproof up to 33 feet. My mother said that I need to buy a case for it to go underwater since I might ruin it. But, I don't think so because its made to go underwater. But, I don't want to risk it. Please help!

No, it doesn't need the underwater housing. It is a "Waterproof" camera.

I am considering in buying a digital camera and I really want a good one that is sweatproof, waterproof, has really god zooming.... etc etc. So what exactly should someone be looking for in a camera? Can anyone sugest to me any type of good cameras and any good websites? Thank you very much in advance.

The optical zoom is limited to just 3.6x Optical which isnât very long.

Another option would be to buy a âNon-Waterproofâ camera and then buy a Camera Housing for it. The Camera Housing fits over the camera and provides protection from water.
