waterproof camera 30m image

So, i am going on vacation and i bought a GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition camera to go underwater with and film, but i heard somewhere with the "regular" housing that you can only go 10ft. Was wondering if it could go to at least 30 or more feet and if the water would leak in or something. Any more information about diving underwater with this camera would be really helpful. i also plan on scubing with it and would i possibly need the "diving" housing if i plan to go more than 10 ft.
thank you!!!
Answer
All of their housings that are waterproof, have a 30M (90') rating.
Rather than relying on junk info you "heard". Why not check-out their website.

I am looking for an affordable waterproof camcorder capable of being used at a minimum depth of 60 feet?

Ideally it would be something that can be used onland and under water.
thanks for the info. I am an Advanced Open Water Diver with my deep specialisation. I regularly dive to 100-130ft.

You can use most camcorders under water just get a waterproof housing. You will need to make sure that they are depth tested to more than that, 60ft isnt much, I will assume that you are at least a open water diver or better, with that you can dive up to 18m as an advanced OW you can go to 30m, the problem is that many people go deeper than that. as a DM on air its safe to dive to about 50m plus or minus a little as ofter that air breathing can cause you to black out and die. plus the decompression time increases. Sorry I went on a bit,
you need to get a housing for at least 60m over double your original depth, you dont want your expensive camera to suddenly fill with water as the housing cannot cope with the pressure.

Hope this help
but to get something thats safe isnt cheap just remember the pressures involved
Good luck
