It seems that the waterproof camera that really delivers quality images is the Canon D10. It looks really cool, one giant cyclops' eye of a flash. How can i test a waterproof case to make sure it has no leaks? thank you:-)

It depends how deep you need it to be waterproof.
While I agree with Damien, Taylah, Janna and Monica, their suggestions work if you stay on the surface of the water or within about 3 feet of the surface. If you plan to go any deeper (even the bottom of a pool which can be 6-9 feet deep), you need to consider the water pressure (your ears can feel the pressure starting at about 5 feet deep). That pressure can push water in through gaskets of they are not built to withstand that pressure.
And if you plan to go deeper (either free-diving or SCUBA), then an even more robust (and expensive) waterproof housing would be required.
