Answer
clothes wise: atleast two swim suits. a swim suit cover. . lots of tank tops and shorts. probly more than 3 pair of shoes/flip flops. definitely some you can wear in the ocean water. few pairs of sunglasses and maybe a hat. oh and definitely a beach bag and a few beach towels. protection wise: for your grandpa I'd bring some very good sunscreen, but im sorry I have no reccomendations. maybe get him a big hat to shade his head/face from the sun if he doesn't mind wearing it. um if you want to tan I suggest the banana boat tanning oil. it works great and you don't burn. its completely safe. Fun: an underwater camera. if there's children maybe some beach toys. hope this helped a little. HAVE FUN(:

I want to take underwater photos in shallow reefs
Answer
Two questions - how deep are you going to go & what's your budget?
Shallow/cheap options - you can either buy a waterproof digital camera (usually ok for swimming pool depths - 2-3m or so) or you can use a flexible housing for a camera you already have (usually ok for 5-8m or so).
Fuji finepix is quite good at around £100;

or the Canon Powershot D10 for just over £200;

A selection of flexible housings;

If you are going deeper than about 10m you need a rigid housing, otherwise water pressure pushes buttons you don't want pushing. A selection of compact camera & housing packages here;

These will be a few hundred pounds for both camera & housing.
At the top end of the scale is housings for DSLR's - these are several thousand pounds worth once you've bought strobes/ports as well.
