So I just went to bestbuy and they have in the new olympus stylus touch 6000 and it seems like a good deal. for $299 its waterproof, shock proof and freeze proof. Reviews say it isnt a bad rugged digital cam but a lot of them suggest other rugged camera's instead but I didnt see any other ones at bestbuy. Anyone have any thoughts on it? Maybe personal experience with rugged cameras? I actually found the olympus for $263 online.

what is the best digital camera for every day use?
Jess
I have a cannon powershot right now and its about four years old and it's just kinda out dated so am looking to buy a new camera but I'm not sure which one to get.
I am not a photographer or anything, but I have three kids and I take pictures of them almost daily. I have a hard time capturing action shots on the camera I have now, so that's definitely a must on the new camera. Durability is important as well. I would also prefer something that is a reasonable size and not too bulky.
My sister in law has a camera that is waterproof, which would also be a good quality, but I'm not sure what kind it is or if it's a good camera.
Any help would be great! thanks so much :)

I just bought a Canon Powershot 110 SXi about 3 weeks ago. Just took some wedding photos and was a little disappointed in the quality with the lack of red-eye avoidence.
Go to www.cnet.com and look for their product reviews. In my case, I want something with a good zoom due to the grandchildren being in sports and wanting to take action photos.
The really small - easy to carry cameras have a drawback - very low zoom feature. That means if you are not close - you are going to lose a lot of detail. There are sub-compact and compact. I settled for the compact which is still small enough to fit into a coat pocket or pocketbook.
My prior camera was a HP at 4 MP and a zoom of 21. The Canon is 9 MP and I was expecting a much sharper image. Cannot tell the difference in the photos if they are printed on 4*6 paper. Maybe you can see the difference in larger size prints. But you might not need to go for the 10Mp, 12MP or higher cameras which are more expensive.
After searching for what I wanted, I went on eBay. Got a $400 camera outfit for about $175 and that includes a 2 year warranty. Had it for 3 months and no problems.
