Gotta disagree with Hondo on this one.
I support a group that uses Kodak point and shoots, for the last 8 years. In that time, we have upgraded cameras twice, but kept the older stuff in service. So something on the order of 200 cameras floating around out there, every one of them a Kodak.
In that time, we have had quite a few SD cards go bad, but not a one of the cameras. OK, we've lost a few, but do to the actions of the user, not the camera. These cameras are in Police patrol cars and investigation unit vehicles. They get used in all weather ( the main reason they die), day and night, 24/7. And they keep on working. These are not any special model, they are the same thing any consumer could buy... mostly C713 and C913 models at the moment.
If you do your research, you will find that Canon and Nikon and Sony, and all the rest, have their fair share of bad models. It is possible to get any electronic device dead out of the box, or break it fairly easily. The Kodak models are not rugged, waterproof, shockproof, or designed to take a fall, any more than any other brand. If you take care of it, it should work. Just like any other brand.

Good camera to take far away and close-up pictures of yourself, & also photography?

I am researching this camera that i found at staples, but cheaper at BestBuy. It is the Olympus - 14.0-Megapixel Digital Camera. Is it a good brand, first off, & a good camera? I like to take pictures of myself and edit them, hahaha and i like to take photography pictures & i would like them to be clear. Would this be a good choice? Thank you for all your help, xxoo :)
