What is a great underwater camera with high mp and a good zoom, but compact enough to carry in a pocket?

Dancelover

I am looking for a new underwater camera. I currently have the Fujifilm FinePix Z33WP and while I love the size, I am simply not happy with the quality of the pictures or speed at which they are taken. I am looking for a camera with:

-High mp and very good zoom
-Shockproof, dustproof, freezeproof, but most importantly WATERPROOF!!!***
-Small, pocket sized, for easy everyday use
-Takes pictures quickly! (And jumping pictures are nice)
-Good quality macro pictures. (Not number one on my list of features, but it would be nice)
-Good videos!!
-An SD card for memory storage is preferred but not going to be the deciding factor on a camera.
-A great battery life!! I don't care too much on the type of battery as long as it stays charged for a long amount of time and gives an early warning when it's about to die! (No more camera dying while out at the beach!)

-If anyone can tell me any information on the latest types of memory storage and if anything is easier than an SD card that would be great. I am open to something new if it is convenient to load pictures onto the computer/printer/etc. Also, any information on the best type of battery. I have a canon (not underwater) that I have had for several years and it takes AA, which is easy, but they last about five minutes.

**I realize that I have high hopes and am very specific, but if anyone can help me find a camera that meets all or some of my specifications I would appreciate it SO very much. I am asking for any help or stories of your own experiences with underwater cameras. Thanks to all you camera-smart people!!

Two years ago Dpreview did an underwater group test.

Your experience with the Fujifilm FinePix Z33WP seems to agree with their results.
The Panasonic DMC-TS1 did very well. The current model, the TS3 would probably be worth looking at.

Im getting a new digital camera. What brand should I buy?

Please post a new question. Tell us how much you want to spend, what you plan to use the camera for most of the time, and what your prior experience is with photography. With this information, we will be much more helpful to you.

Steve's reviews updates the "Best Camera" list periodically:
http://www.steves-digicams.com/best_cameras.html

This is somewhat out of date, but check this page for a general idea: http://tech.yahoo.com/rc/digital-cameras/103 Most cameras mentioned have been replaced with newer models, which we will hope are as good or better than what they replaced.

Here's another resource for you. Look on down the page if you are interested in point and shoot cameras instead of dSLR's. http://www.digitalcamerainfo.com/ratings.php

Here's another listing in order by ratings. They are only separated according to general groups, such as "Highly Recommended," etc. They are NOT listed within the groups according to higher rating. They are listed by date tested.
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/default.asp?view=rating

Consumer Reports from May 2007 has a short article on digital cameras and they recommend 10 different point and shoot cameras in the following order within groups according to camera design:
**COMPACTS**
Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX2 (Overall score 75) [$410]
Kodak EasyShare C875 (Overall score 73) [$165] - Rated better for shutter lag
Nikon Coolpix P4 (Overall score 65)
**SUBCOMPACTS**
Canon Powershot SD500 (Overall score 72)
Casio Exilim EX-Z850 (Overall score 72)
Sony Cybershot DSC-W50 (Overall score 70) [$180] [Similar to W55] - Rated better for shutter lag
Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX3 (Overall score 69) [$200] [Similar to FX-10, FX-12]
Olympus Stylus 720SW (Overall score 61) [Similar to 770SW - $360] (Waterproof)
**ADVANCED COMPACTS ("Near SLR")**
Fujifilm Finepix S6000fd (Overall score 77) [$300] - Rated better for shutter lag
Fujifilm Finepix E900 (Overall score 73) [$250]
[Things change so quickly in digital cameras that I can not find all of these models listed for sale and it's not even May yet. Prices are from B&H Photo, April 2007.]
