This just came up in my mind, How come cameras / camcorders are waterproof only to a certain depth. Like the kodak playsport, it says it's waterproof only down to 10 feet or something. What happens if you go lower?

Answer
As you go deeper, the water pressure increases. The seals designed to keep the water out of the inside of the camera/camcorder are not designed to handle the pressure.

When you get to about 10 feet, your ears can feel the effects of that pressure.

The underwater camera or camcorder housings that are made for 100+ feet depth will typically cost more than the camera they are protecting... The deeper the housing is rated, the more challenging it is to engineer and make and the more expensive it is.

Should I bring my new waterproof camcorder to Hershey Park?

I got an awesome waterproof camcorder and I want to take it to Hershey Park but I'm not sure. I just want a couple of opinions before I decide. I'm more along the edge of bring it.

Answer
I like to take pictures and video when I go to an amusement park for the first time to record all the new rides I experienced...it's exciting at first, but then after awhile it is sort of annoying to have a camera/camcorder on you (especially since I am into thrill rides/rollercoasters) - Hershey Park does provide "cubbies" to put your belongings in on most rollercoasters, although they are not responsible if it gets stolen (you should put it into a bag so it's not exposed). You might want to either keep it with you and take videos when you first get to the park, then put it away so that you can truly enjoy yourself without having to worry about your camera, or store it away for the first part of the day, then take it out later after you had been on your favorite rides. So I usually bring my camera, although I usually bring my cheap camera because I wouldn't care if it got damaged...so I'm not sure what the price of your camcorder is and what rides you like to go on, but just weigh your options - if you are going on a lot of slow moving rides and just going to see the zoo/shows/factory tour ride, then it'll be okay, but if you plan on going on coasters then you might not want to leave it in the station and it might be a pain (depending on the size of it) to carry with you.

So I guess it depends - a lot of people do bring recording devices (cameras, camcorders), and I do to, but it does become a pain when you just want to be free of any extra items and just go on rides without having to worry about them. So perhaps store it away for a part of the day, but I do think you should bring it if you are into taking videos.
