waterproof digital camera case image

So I have this camera, Canon PowerShot D10 12.1 MP Waterproof Digital Camera with 3x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.5-inch LCD. It says its waterproof up to 33 feet. My mother said that I need to buy a case for it to go underwater since I might ruin it. But, I don't think so because its made to go underwater. But, I don't want to risk it. Please help!
Answer
No, it doesn't need the underwater housing. It is a "Waterproof" camera.

Is it safe to use a "Waterproof Dry Bag" for a digital camera that isn't meant to go underwater?

I have the Canon SX210 that have Waterproof case made for it. At least not at a normal price. Would I be able to use a "Dry Bag" like this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/Waterproof-Under-Water-Digital-Camera-Case-Dry-Bag-20m-/270635592754?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f03236c32 and not damage my camera? If so how deep would it be able to go?
Answer
I wouldn't use a bag. I'd either buy a case or buy a waterproof camera and dedicate that to underwater use.
I used to have a FantaSea brand case for one of my cameras, but it ended up being just too bulky to take with me all the time - so I bought a dedicated waterproof camera (Olympus 8010).
While the case was rated to 200Meters and the camera is only rated to 10Meters, I don't go that deep, so the 10Meter depth is fine for me.
If you go with that bag, check to see if it has a depth rating.
If it is not specified - I would not even consider buying it.
And if there is a depth rating - I bet it's no more than 3 to 6 ft.
