underwater camera 50 feet image

Has anyone tried this? Is it relatively safe if kept far from the face? Would the pressure hitting the water crack the case? I want to try some funky shots holding the camera while jumping.
Answer
I donât think the integrity of the case would withstand the impact of the water. The protection of underwater (pressure ) given by the manufacture of the case would be a lot less, and the waterâs pressure is slow and equal as the case is submerged verses a sudden impact to the water surface. One of the kids in my media production class attached a camcorder to a bungee cord and let it fall off a bridge (he was not with the cam). Although he had to make a special cradle (so the cam wouldnât spin or tilt while falling) the shots cam out well. For your water âfallâ shots, you would want to re-enforce the underwater case, but since the front of the lens needs to be clear, that part of the case would be at risk of failure.

What waterproof camera would be best for use in a cold creek?
Em
I was wanting to take some underwater pictures in my creek next summer, it's pretty cold in it- never warmer than 50 degrees. The deepest part is 7 feet, the water is a little murky, but not awful.
A good waterproof camera that won't break easily would be perfect! I was looking at a Nikon Coolpix AW100, but apparently the seal on them is no good...... ? So I'm not sure now..... what would you reccomend?
