I wanna buy a cam but I dont know which one is the good one ,, so i need to know what makes them better

You need to ask yourself first, what you want from a camera. Do you want a simple point & shoot camera, or do you want something more professional like a DSLR. Any of the major brands of cameras will give you quality results, Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, Fuji, Pentax....
Once you have decided what type of camera you want, you need to think about what you will be photographing and what features you find important in a camera. Will you be photographing family and friends,(compact point & shoot) or will you want to shoot sports and wildlife (DSLR).
Then you need to consider your price range.You want to look at the MPs (mega pixels) anything over 8mp is good.. you also want to consider if you want an optical view finder or just an LCD screen.
Do you want something waterproof & shock proof, or do you want something with more zoom. Do not pay attention to digital zoom, only optical zoom.
Go to http://dpreview.com and search for cameras in your price range. Then narrow down you choices by the type of camera you want. Point & shoot or DSLR. Compare the remaining cameras side by side using the comparison tool, and read the reviews, study the sample images.
Once you have narrowed down your search to a few models, go to a store and handle the different models, get a feel for them, try the controls and look through the menus. Then buy the one which you feel most comfortable using.

Well I want a pocket camcorder for Christmas and I was wondering how much does it cost? and how much would it cost also for a waterproof one to? And how much would it be less at boxing day? Thanks :) - no mean answers please, just trying to know!!

Depends on which camera. I bought the kodak zi10 pocket camcorder about a half a year ago and it shoots pretty good video. You can put it in 1080p and i got it for 80 off of amazon.com. Its around 130 on the canadian one but there are places you can ship to near the border and you pay a small fee of like 5 dollars to pick your thing up and it is toatlly worth it to save lots of money. I dont reccomend it because the touch screen dies after a while and the internal mic has a background ticking noise. There is a mic input though so it works for me. There are many others that arent kodak too. Just look around. Usually they rrange from 100 to 300. So not expensive and most of them shoot 1080p or atleast 1080i. Flip Hd is good but expensive since they went out of buisness. Kodak zi8 is probably the best pocket camcorder because it is pretty much perfect but kodak is out of buisness and that camera is about 400 dollars on amazon. So do some reasearh. Check out chrisc74 on youtube for tons of pocket camcorder reviews, test, comparisons and all that jazz. Trust me. he helped me A LOT.
