Going to Maui this week and would like to rent a lens and an underwater camera housing for a Canon 20d.

Is there a setting for the Canon SX200 IS to keep it from retracting its lens when turned off?

I'm making an underwater housing. It has a very wide angle and becomes very long when zoomed in all the way. The lens of the housing will have to clamp onto the front of the camera lens. But, I doubt you need that info... Is there a setting or method of overriding the retraction of the lens when you shut it off?

Most probably not. That's a design feature that's supposed to protect the lens when it's not in use.
