I had a Nikon Coolpix digital camera, but unfortunately I took it to the beach one day and evidently, it got sand inside the lens, and now refuses to work correctly (it keeps saying lens error, and there doesn't seem to be any way to fix it). So, I'm hoping to find a new digital camera that I would be able to take to the beach without it getting damaged by sand, water, etc. The price needs to be under $100. It doesn't need to have fancy special features or anything, although it would be nice if it had the feature of taking black and white pictures, and also several different types of settings (i think most digital cameras have this).

Any decent waterproof camera should also be somewhat protected from sand. Your price would be problematic though. Good waterproof cameras cost more than that, and they are worth it. Meanwhile, you can protect it by never putting it down on sand, even on a towel. Seal it into a plastic bag first, or get a small cooler to put it in. The more layers between your camera and the sand, the better. I carried my Nikon D90 on a beach, and even walked knee deep in water with it, and didn't get a speck of sand in it. That's because I never set it down.
