best waterproof camera aw100 image
discovery
Going on a trip to Costa Rica for two weeks and was wondering if I should invest about $200 on either a waterproof camera because we will be doing plenty of snorkeling or a nice camera that wouldn't be able to go to the beach. I will still use this camera (obviously...I'm spending $200) when I get back but probably not use the waterproof function a whole lot.
Also, what camera would you recommend...I would like one that would do well in low light and it would be nice if it could fit in a large pocket.

After having used numerous underwater cameras, my favorite by far is the Nikon Coolpix AW100. The quality of the underwater photos and videos is exceptional -- just make sure you use the custom underwater mode for the perfect color balance. The LCD screen on the back is the right size so you can easily view the marine life you are trying to capture. The battery life is great. I've used it in both the Caribbean and the Hawaiian Islands on dozens of occasions. There's a great price on it, too, around $250 at Amazon http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B005IGVY92/snorkelingdives-20/
By the way, there is great snorkeling around Costa Rica! Just check this out for the best Costa Rica snorkeling destinations http://www.snorkelingdives.com/scripts/three.asp?COUNTRYNAME=Costa%20Rica&TYPE=SNORKELING

How can i fix a wet Kodak Mini?
Marvin Lac
My Kodak Mini Waterproof Camera got its interior wet after the water leaked through the seals, after i dried it, it still won't turn on. I can't avail its free warranty since it is only offered within US territories.
What should i do, can you tell me how to fix it?
Answer
Once the water got to the interior of your camera, it was toast.
There is nothing you can do to repair it, since it probably needs new circuit boards and a thorough cleaning inside and out.
Unless you can find a local authorized Kodak repair shop and are willing to pay to have it repaired, you are stuck.
I am sure that there are many warnings in the user manual about care of the seals and what needs to be done to assure no leakage spoils the camera
From the Nikon AW100 Manual. "Make sure that the waterproof packing of the battery-chamber/memory cover is not cracked or deformed".
card slot cover is not cracked or deformed.
