best waterproof camera ocean image

I have brought my waterproof camera into the ocean quite a few times, and now the latches to get to the battery and sd card are jammed. Does anyone know how to fix this? I've tried soaking it in lukewarm water to dissolve any salt.

What is a good yet cheap underwater housing unit for my DSLR?

I have a D3000 and am looking to take pictures in the ocean. I am not diving or anything just taking just photos of my friends surfing and maybe just some in the tide pools. The casing only needs to be capable of going as deep as an 8 foot deep pool because that is about how deep i will be diving under waves. Any info or products will be a huge help. Thank you

If you are looking for something pretty cheap, check out one of the Ewa-Marine bags.
They only cost $300-$450. They aren't as sturdy as a hard housing, and you lose some of the camera's functionality, but they still work well.
A better option, might just be to purchase a waterproof point and shoot camera for around $200.
