Most digital cameras with a USB cord (the "upload" cord you refer to) will also charge the battery while plugged into a computer USB port (or an inexpensive USB wall charger/power supply -- like those used for iPods and other USB-connector rechargeable battery gadgets).
Since most cameras will "power up" into file-transfer mode when plugged into a computer USB port, it may take longer than usual for the battery to charge back up. (You might try manually powering down the camera after it enters "sync mode" or USB-transfer status.)
Another option is to shop for a "universal charger" at a camera store or electronics store (even WalMart has a good selection). There are many 3rd party Canon-compatible chargers available; these charge just the battery in a separate cradle. Just look on the package to make sure it's compatible with a Canon NB-6L battery.
I checked on the web for a D10 manual PDF to verify the USB cord charging option, but the topic isn't directly addressed. It does appear that the camera can be attached to a USB port with the camera powered-off, so it might charge the battery after several hours. But, I also noticed that the optional AC power supply WILL NOT charge the battery while attached, so your best bet is to replace your lost charger with the original (Canon model CB-2LY or CB-2LYE â the European version) or a 3rd party model, as described above.
Hope this helps!

What's a good digital camera to buy?
Q. Hi, I've recently been having problems with my Sony Cyber-Shot camera (the camera says "Use with compatible battery only"), and I think I was going to buy another one soon anyways. What would be a good Point&Shoot camera. I would like one with:
-A Rechargeable battery, not AA for example.
-Pretty good optical zoom and mega pixels
-Not too expensive
-Takes videos which you can listen to ON the camera!
Thank you!!

Hi!
I think that the brand 'Olympus' is by far the best. They have a range of cameras to suit what you need at quite fair prices. I have an Olympus, it looks good, takes excellent pictures, is not big and bulky and it has a digital battery.
One of the best cameras ever made would have to be the latest Olympus camera. It is waterproof AND shockproof, meaning you can drop it from up to 5 metres and it wont even leave a scratch, not to mention the accessories, eg, the mirror on one side of it so you can see yourself when you take the picture.
The choice is totally up to you, but I would DEF go for an Olympus!!!
