What is the best camera I can get for 300$?

What is most important to me is focus. You know the pictures, of let's say, a flower, and the flower is very sharp, but the background is very blurry? I'd like to MANUALLY choose what part of my photo is in focus instead of letting the camera do it automatically :). Megapixel-wise, I'm thinking around 8? But that's not necessairy.

I live in Canada so I do mean 300$, Canadian! I'd also like to get it from Best Buy or Costco, if possible. Thank you in advanced!

Q. right now i have a dumb little cannon powershot or whatever, it works okay and i have taken nice pictures but its a tad bit boring, i'm thinking possibly some sort of EOS Digital SLR Cameras by cannon would be really cool or a D3000 from nikon.

my standards are:
-a nice lcd screen
-macro abilities
-must be able to change coloring (b&w, sepia, RGB)
-underwater/waterproof would be nice but i doubt there is a nice camera out there with this
-portable
-can easily download to computer

i really like to travel and i will have a lot of opportunities to this summer, so i want to be able to document all the trips to the best of my ability.

so if anyone knows of this type of magical camera, or really likes the way theirs works, and meets some of my criteria, i'd love to know more,

Ok there is a nice camera out there like the one you want. It is a Canon. I would suggest sticking with a CANON camera since you had one before. Its not easy to move from one company to another. The best CANON DSLR camera is the CANON DIGITAL REBEL Xs. If you have any more questions on this camera look at www.canon.com. I know that Wal-Mart sells it and so does Best Buy and BJ'S Wholesale Club. Be sure to check Costcos and Sam's Club. Also be sure to look for package deals because sometimes you can get a extra lens free. And lenses can be very expensive when buying them separately. Be sure to find deals too. Best Buy has the best package deals. Be sure to look at their online pricing and store pricing and ask a representative to see if they are going to have package deals sometime soon. :) Hope that helped you.
