The manual wasn't clear on this, and I tried searching for it on the menu and couldn't find it.

Can you give me step by step instructions as though i were 12 years old? haha

Answer
1. The slow synchro cannot be enabled/disabled in the "Auto" mode. Also, it makes no sense in the Tv (Time Value) and M (Manual) modes. So the mode selector on the top of the camera should be in "P" (Program) or "Av" (Aperture Value). Forget about the "C".
So... please move the mode selector weel to the "P" position.

2. Ensure you are in the shot mode (move the switch from the play icon to the camera icon).

3. Press the Menu button.

4. Press the down arrow 4 times, to select the "Slow Synchro" line.

5. Move to left, to select the "Off" option.

Done. You're the man!

I have the A640... almost the same camera. Also I have the waterproof case and the lens adapter with a polarizer. I love this stuff!

What do you think are the best brand of laptops and digital camera's? (and how much $$ each)?

Q.

Answer
It really depends on how you define "best", and what you are going to be using it for.

Usually, the laptop brand does not matter as much as the components that go into it.

You probably already know if you want to get an apple, or a laptop running windows.

Make sure to get one with a good processor (by AMD or Intel - Stay away from Intel's Celerons or Centrinos - get an Intel Pentium Dual Core or one of AMDs new Quad-Core Opteron processors if you want top of the line (once they come out-soon ( http://www.amd.com/us-en/Corporate/VirtualPressRoom/0,,51_104_543~119768,00.html )))

Be sure to get plenty of memory (RAM) and a good internet connection - from best to worst (fiber optic (verizon), dsl, or cable)

A good video card also goes a long way.

As far as prices, you could be looking at around $600 to several thousand depending on what you are going to be using it for, and what you need.
If you play a lot of high-end video games or do graphics heavy stuff like video editing then you are going to need a faster processor, more memory, and a better video card which = more money.
If you primarally use the computer for going online and typing word documents (etc..), save the money on the processor, memory, and video card and instead go out and buy yourself a super fast internet connection as this will be your main bottleneck for speed when internet surfing.
Note: your network card that probably will come with your computer is 100MB/s (which translated is 838,860,800 bits/second)
Even if you leased a T3 line (which is the connection that the government uses), it can only transfer at 45 million bits per second.
So, your new computer can accept up to about 18 times as much information as the fastest possible connection you could get (assuming you are rich). Thus if you are a big internet user, you get the most value by paying for the best connection in your price range.

----------------

As far as cameras are concerned, again, it depends on what you want.

The highest quality Digital cameras are the Digital SLRs, and Pentax makes the best with the K10
( http://www.pentaxslr.com/bodies/k10 ) around $899
-These allow you to swap in and out all Pentax lenses, for semi-professional level photography.

However, you may be looking for something smaller (of the point and shoot variety if you dont want to be swapping lenses).

If you want a good quality point and shoot, Cannon offers the PowerShot S5 IS which has one of the best zooms out there (12X Optical & 4x digital for a 48x Zoom) at around $379.99

If you want a good waterproof camera, there is the Pentax Optio W30 7.1-Megapixel Digital Camera at around $299.99

If durability is a concern, there is the compact Olympus - Stylus 7.1MP Digital Camera 790 SW which is shockproof up to 5 feet and crushproof up to 220 pounds, and freeze and water resistent to a certain degree for around $299.99

So, it really all comes down to what you are looking for. I would suggest going to a BestBuy and/or Circuitcity and checking out some of these cameras and several different laptops before you make a decision on buying.
