Im looking for an HD video camera that I can use to film snowboarding stuff. Id be willing to spend 200-400 dollars, and I was wondering what cameras offered good quality picture and solid features for this price range.

Answer
Are you looking for a regular video camera or POV?

If you're looking at POV's (Point of View) then there's basically three options. I've spent weeks upon weeks looking at and researching these three companies.
Contour - http://contour.com/products
GoPro - http://gopro.com/products/
Drift - http://driftinnovation.com/drift-hd-action-camera/

The top competitors from each company are the GoPro HD Hero 2, Contour +, and Drift HD. They're all pretty new so there won't be as many reviews as for their older models. I'll give you what I like and hate about each.
Gopro - Good - Waterproof, HD, Good video quality, Good stabilization, Lots of mounting accessories
Bad - Kinda bulky and not very sleek, video seems a bit saturated, menu is awful

Contour - Good - Sleek and small, HD, Good video quality, lots of features like GPS and bluetooth view finder that syncs with your smartphone (pretty cool).
Bad - Image stabilization isn't as good as the others, only water resistant (but you can buy a case)

Drift - Good - Sleek and small, HD, Good video quality, great menu, lcd playback/viewfinder on camera.
Bad- Only water resistant (you can buy a case), not as many mounting accessories as the others

what is the best camera to use for underwater?

I'm going to Galapagos, Amazons and camping in Florida in May so i need to know of a good camcorder or camera to take on my trip. I'm going to spend a lot of my time in the water and on land so i want something that would be good for both. Does not have to be spectacular quality but something reasonable. my budget is $500-650. I just don't want it to break while on my trip.

Answer
panasonic lumix ts2, it's tough and takes great pictures.
waterproof to10 meters (33 ft)
shockproof to 2 meters (6.6 ft)
dustproof
freezeproof
14 mp sensor
6x zoom
720p HD video
i have one and i love it! cost me $299 Canadian
if you wait until next month panasonic is coming out with the ts3
same as above but has gps
larger 12mp c-mos sensor
electronic compass
barometer
altimeter
3D picture capability
1080p HD video
waterproof to 12 meters (40 ft)
should cost between $350 - $400, and either one will fit in your pocket.
both those cameras are the best specs in a waterproof point and shoot.
