I would suggest the GoPro HD. Even though the contour is a bit more sleek, the GoPRO has awesome video quality and is much more versatile when you are looking to use it for things besides just skiing. The waterproof box is bombproof and the wide variety of different mounting options make the gopro awesome if you want to catch unique angles. The mounts are also very sturdy for the gopro.

It is not the prettiest camera out there, but its function is awesome and that is very important.

Hi all, I'm looking for a camera which would be best for skiing, skateboarding, waveboard and just holding it in my hand. I'm looking at the contour roam, gopro 1 and 2(helmet hero). Will the helmet hero be able to attach to the front of my skateboard, I've heard the roam can. Also, I don't need it waterproof up to 60 metres, one is fine. What gives better picture quality in 1080p?

Overall, which one would you recommend for me?

the gopro hero and specifically the 2 are better in all kinds of circumstances , the hero is awesome in good light , and the hero 2 is more stable in all light circumstances , the contour is is smaller and looks better but the colour and light coping is slightly less advance mainly in light grading and cmos processing .. I would recommend the hero2 all the way , purely becaise it takes a bang over and over and doesnt seem to damage the camera .. personally we have two good ones and a banger , and the banger has been dropped of cranes (accidentally) so the verdict for me for sheer strength the hero cams
