I might be getting a digital camera for my birthday, and I really like these cameras. I am turning 13 and I'm very active, so I think this will be a good choice. I really like the waterproof/shockproof features as well as the other ones. But, what I'm stumped on is the better battery/better (underwater/regular) video/picture quality. I am just not sure which camera is better overall. So, please tell me the camera you think is best and why. Thank you so much!!!!
Also, this is just off to the side, but which color do you think would be good?? I can't choose between the pink and blue. I don't realy like the black, silver, of orange too too much.

btw pink is totally a good color for the camera. and the 850 sw is very good i've got one with no problems yet had it for a while now and its just great. pix are very clear and its simple freeze proof waterfprroof and everything so you should totally go with the the 850. hope this helps.

Is it okay to take an Olympus Stylus 850 SW to the beach?

I just recently bought it, and I have tried it underwater in a pool, but I wasn't sure if it could be in like sand and salt(water)
(It's a waterproof, shockproof, freezeproof camera)

Yes, it should be just fine because on the Olympus 850 SW webpage it says...
"WATERPROOF (10FT).
Innovative waterproof seals and gaskets allow you to take underwater movies and amazing pictures in a pool, lake or ocean."
and..."The perfect camera for a trip to the great outdoors, the airtight design makes the camera impervious to dust, dirt and other particles."
and..."Whether you're taking pictures on the beach, at night, behind glass or even underwater, there's a Shooting Mode that's ideal for the occasion".
However, you should still take care when using it at the beach...don't go dropping it or burying it in the sand or anything.
Have a look on...pages 62 and 66...of your instruction manual, on how best to care for, clean and maintain the camera (especially after a trip to the beach). Looking after it correctly will ensure that the camera remains in good condition for a long time.
