Underwater Camera Housing Rental?

Olive

I'm going on vacation with my family to Panama City Beach, Florida in two weeks! My sister and I thought it would be awesome to rent an underwater housing unit for our Nikon d90 and take family pictures underwater!

The only thing is I'm not sure if I'd be able to rent one of these housing units for the day? I tried searching camera equipment rentals in Panama City on the internet, but it never produced anything useful. I'd be willing to call around to different stores and ask them but I can't even find a list of stores that might rent stuff like that out!

HELP!

Answer
Check with the dive shops. They may have rental housing or at least will know where you can rent them.

It may be less expensive to rent one of their camera/housing combinations if they have them for rent.

Because of the close proximity to Brooks Institute and their underwater photography program, a lot of the dive shops in Santa Barbara had a few rental Nikonos and Ikelite housings for specific cameras at one time.

Which camera to use for underwater photos?

Answer
You have two additional options.

One is to buy an underwater housing for your existing camera or purchasing a digital or 35mm underwater camera.
